- Perhaps these disgraceful photographs would "endanger" military personnel; perhaps not. Either way, this factor ought not decide whether citizens have a right to see the images.
I'm disappointed in Obama for taking a position that works against transparency in government.

Exactly they are trying to bury it to protect other high ranking democrats. When it was just against the republicans it was ok but know its against both parties its hey lets slow down we are endangering our troups. Democrat lemmings will follow them too cause hey there is a "D" next to thier name. - Reply to this comment

I believe your assumption is correct, when the last batch was released that was bad enough and did not accomplish anything but controversy and honestly I saw a lot of bad come out of it. Sending men who followed orders to prison and the inventors go free - Reply to this comment
- ,,,knowing that the American government condones torture will result in the same treatment to our soldiers,
------------------------
So if a US solder is captured by a terrorist group they will not be abused if we place the former administration on trial for torture. If not what country can we file grievance with for the harsh treatment in terrorist capture our soldiers. Maybe we should drop leaflets of the geneva convention on the terrorist group and explain the rules of engagement. - Reply to this comment

- Not condemning torture is what will recruit violence in the future to our troops,,,knowing that the American government condones torture will result in the same treatment to our soldiers,,,,,,It has gone far enough and it is time to start ending the lie wars,,,,,How many of our leaders would be considered terrorists for the killings of innocent people by drones, attacking in another country? how would Americans react if drones were used to kill Americans in our own country? Why do people not realize ,,,people want us out of their country...it is that simple....we would not be ANY different if someone was occupying our country against our wishes.

- The translation to this article and others from the last couple days.
We know we released documents for political purposes that would help pursued legal means against people who approved, written legal council and where informed on US torturing. But in light that some high ranking democrats would be implemented as well, we decided to bury torture in order to protect our own.
We've already dispatched our political lemmings information that it indeed was Former V.P. Cheney that kept torture in the news not our political lemmings. So you guys are in the clear to drop this discussion since it was never you guys that kept it going.
TY for being like republican lemmings who follow without question. Without people like you we would never be able to be as corrupt as them. - Reply to this comment
- So, this decision today was a very odd curveball.
Soon it will be revealed why he served this up.

Your abilties apparently prevent you from understanding that abuse pics are VERY inflammatory.
They aid in recruitment.
They are proof of abuse and stir strong emotion.
They are best used in bringing criminal convictions as evidence in the courtroom. - Reply to this comment
- Don't forget, Liberals -
They are terrorists, not tourists.

Fox News anchors, when shooting on location?
Thanks for the warning... - Reply to this comment
- Yeah, I got that in an email from one of my,"confused", friends.
It wasn't funny then either...

It is both appropriate AND funny. There is no other way to describe Obama's flip-flop other than sheer confusion. He's lost. He's a campaigner - not a leader. His 'campaign' statements carry weight now - something he's obviously not used to.

Nah, it's neither.
It's just talking points for bitter Republicans, that's all. - Reply to this comment

- Yesterday the rabid right thought the President was in favor of releasing the pictures so they trashed him. Today they think he doesn't want to, so they trash him. Republican consistency at its best. Snarl. Snarl. Snarl.

- Oh sure he is. Apologizing to everyone like a scared chicken. Obama is even apologizing to terrorists states like Syria and Iran as if we were the criminals and they were good guys. Obama is ridiculous.

What's worse is when Bush lovingly shook hands with Libya's terrorist, Qaddafi. Bush was a terrorist lover. Typical conservative. - Reply to this comment
- Since January 21, 2009 I have noticed that your articles use the term President Obama (when discussing subject) in one sentence and then "Mr. Obama" in the next! Why is this? I thought the proper address for Barack Obama, since 1/21/2009, was President Obama OR MR PRESIDENT. Of course, I may be wrong and/or no one else seems to have noticed what I see as disrespect for the leader of these United States. It is not just CBS News, I would promptly acknowledge, I have noticed this trend in all the media. Just wondering....

CBS actually ran an article here addressing that issue. Here on their site, as well on their network, they begin a story about the President by addressing him as President Obama, but refer to him as Mr. Obama for the remainder of the story. - Reply to this comment
- A friend sent me this, and after reading this article it occured to me that this would be the perfect place to post it:
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.
The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post
turtle'.
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

- Obama is working overtime trying to repair Americas image and relations overseas. Why release these photos now and cause another firestorm over another Bush screw up?

- Obama is an evil Genius. There is hardly any abuse that was going on, but Obama wants to think that it was so bad that he cant release them, Obama is using this for political gain.

I'll take an evil genius,(he's not), over the stupid twit that evangelicals and ultra conservatives managed to keep in office for 8 years. - Reply to this comment
