- hower4 - Here's one for you. You kids are possibly going to be the victims of another attack. There's evidence that tthey have someone in custody that has info that will save them. The option is to beat the info out of them or just do nothing.. What's your answer?

- While I agree torture may not work in a one time attempt, multiple events will catch the lies and force the truth. They will eventually tell the truth to stop the torture. Further if torture will save just one life then torture more than acceptable it should be a requirement. We are talking about people who believe it is OK to kill children.

- LOL - can you get lies out of torture? Sure you can.
But good intelligence agents test interogation output before believing it. That is why we have intelligence satellites and aerial reconaissance among other things.
Most people who intentionally lie try to tell believeable lies. Believeable lies also contain elements of truth - like that is a good hiding place...even if the victim doesn't think it is in use NOW. Yup the victim reveals alternative places to look that one day might be in use.
Yes it is possible for a bad interogators to feed the victim the answers they want to hear. That was and still is the realm of religious and justice torture.
Believe it or not military tortures are taught not to suggest. They are monitored and fired if they do suggest. The CIA is a different subject. The problem with the CIA is they are often too political oriented toward the current adminstration and may simply want to produce confirmation like the Spanish Inquisition.
So agreed the torturers must NOT be directly controlled by the current administration. The CIA should be controlled in the same way as the GSA -- indirectly by both Hosues of Congress. Thus CIA torturers would go after hints of truth most the time. - Reply to this comment

- torture does not work. lots of historical evidence to show that a tortured victim will say anything to end torture. even admit to witchcraft.
even if torture did work, my america does not stand for torture. republicans need to establish their own nazi state since they apparently do not appreciate truly american values. - Reply to this comment
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly was told in February 2003 by her intelligence aide, Michael Sheehy, that waterboarding was used on CIA terror detainee Abu Zubaydah, directly contradicting Pelosi's account that she had never been informed of the technique's use.
According to a report, Sheehy attended a briefing with Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., in February 2003 and discussed the CIA's use of waterboarding.
She is a liar, a cheat and a beeotch. Put her on trial, she pretty much gave the ok as well as everyone else. Now she is lying about it to look good to her base. BUT SHE IS A LIAR - Reply to this comment
