- As long as the CIA just waterboards Abu Zubaydah and not torturing him, I said why not a 1,000 times until all the intels are extracted.

- Hell !!! Just think about it. Americans WILL be tortured no matter how we treat our prisoners. They hate us because we've got life so good. Because they have to struggle through life, they believe that Americans should either share their prosperity or die.

What a stupid comment. Where'd you get this nonsense - Limbaugh? Hannity? - Reply to this comment
- "CIA interrogators provided top agency officials in Langley with daily "torture" updates of Abu Zubaydah, the alleged "high-level" terrorist detainee, who was held at a secret "black site" prison and waterboarded 83 times in August 2002, according to newly released court documents obtained by this reporter.
The extensive back-and-forth between CIA field operatives and agency officials in Langley likely included updates provided to senior Bush administration officials..."

- I find it very funny that now the Vice President wants to explain to the American people his views on what the intent was for torture. It is also funny how he throws under the bus Colin Powell when it was quite evident that he didn't like Powell when he was VP because he was a man with a conscious. The reason why the previous President won't say anything is because he allowed Cheney to manipulate him to agree to such illicit acts that if he said anything he probably would be looking at a some jail time. Whenever a person or entity believe that they are above the law it is time for them to face reality. Even though Americans might be tortured by rogue nations during questioned we should take the moral road not to torture. When we torture we are no different that the terrorist especially when you waterboard someone 180 times until they now decided to spill their guts. If this tool was that efficient why didn't the person talk after the first time?

- Wow! What a terrible interview. Mr. Cheney made Mr. Scheiffer look that a bush-league reporter getting his first big interview. Anyone ever heard of a thoughtful follow-up question? What about the claim by the FBI interrogator who interrogated KSM that the best intel was received BEFORE the torture began?
What a shame! I can see why Mr. Cheney chose FTN for his interview. - Reply to this comment

I am well aware that "they" scattered to Pakistan.
That would not have happened if Bush had finished the job -- if he had not contracted the coup de grace at Tora Bora to others.
But his attention was diverted. - Reply to this comment

- It is hard to believe how so many of you are ignorant as to the real facts on interrogation. Your hatred for Bush and Cheney has blinded you to the reality of the world and, along with Obama, is putting the US at greater risk.

- " "Meetings were usually chaired by Alberto Gonzales," who was then White House counsel and later became Bush's second attorney general. Yoo identified other key players as Timothy Flanigan, Gonzales's deputy; William Howard Taft IV from State; John Bellinger from the NSC; William "Jim" Haynes from the Pentagon; and David Addington, counsel to Vice President Dick Cheney.
What Yoo's book and other evidence make clear is that the lawyers from the Justice Department's OLC weren't just legal scholars handing down opinions from an ivory tower; they were participants in how to make Bush's desired actions "legal," even if the arguments were professionally flawed."

- If Bush had bothered to finish the job in Afghanistan -- the place from which we were actually attacked -- in a timely fashion, we'd have been done long ago. We should have gone in, blown through the Taliban for being in our way, destroyed Al Qaeda and gotten the hell out. We should never have tried to take and hold territory in Afghanistan beyond what was needed to protect our combat trains.
But Bush was such a useful idiot for his puppet masters that he diverted his attention to Iraq, which posed no threat to us -- and he neglected the important business in Afghanistan.

What a load of hogwash! Gee, your little post failed to mention that they scattered to Pakistan and regrouped there instead of Afghanistan. Oh yeah, Afghanistan would be a done deal already, NOT.
To finish the job in 2001 we would have had to invade Pakistan, plain and simple. Incredibly naive of you to believe that our soldiers would all be home by now, Pakistan has insured that they are not coming home for years to come. - Reply to this comment
- Seriously - Was this a joke? Bob Schieffer inviting Dick Cheney to be on his program for "Mother's Day".
This reminds me of last year when the Oil Industry
Exec's were called in to Washington on April Fool's Day.
The big difference was that we were the fools then. - Reply to this comment
- Pelosi was for torture, before she was against it.

GRAVY, YOUR RESPONSES IN NO WAY RESEMBLE AN "INDEPENDENT" VOTER AS YOU CLAIM TO BE. AN INDEPENDENT VOTER WOULD QUESTION "BOTH" PARTIES WHICH IS SOMETHING YOU NEVER DO. IT'S PAINFULLY OBVIOUS THAT NANCY PELOSI WAS UP TO HER NECK IN "EVERYTHING" AND YOU ASK FOR PROOF OF HER BEING "FOR" SOMETHING BEFORE SHE WAS "AGAINST" IT. PLEEAASSEEE! I'M EMBARRASSED FOR YOU THAT YOU ALWAYS COME TO THE RESCUE FOR LIBS IN CONGRESS. HOW ABOUT YOU USE THE SAME BRUSH YOU SMEAR REPUBLICANS WITH ON THE DEMOCRATS THAT O.K'D EVERYTHING? I HAVE NEVER SEEN YOU DO THAT WHICH SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. YOU ARE A LIB IN DENIAL. SEARING TRUTH IS A LIB THAT DOES NOT IGNORE THE OBVIOUS, DOES NOT BECOME A "GET BUSH" ROBOT, AND RETAINS THE ABILITY TO QUESTION "BOTH" SIDES. YOU FAIL AT THIS MISERABLY, SO I WILL CONTINUE TO PLACE YOU IN THE LIB CATEGORY UNTIL YOU START QUESTIONING "BOTH" SIDES. - Reply to this comment
- Cheney says that he kept the US safe from terrorism. I say he put us more at risk. The additional risk is due to the million new terrorists (way more than we are holding at Gitmo) that Bush, et. al. created when he invaded Iraq. Did the baby gloved CBS guy ask Cheney about that?

- You don't have to make excuses for the liberals. We seem to be the only ones who play by the rules. The liberals are just like the French....the only two words they know are surrender and retreat. They wouldn't go to war to defend their own mother. The liberals have always been cowards. They say they want peace but the truth is that they're chicken ________.
