The best reason I can think of to keep Obama strong, healthy, and alive is that if something should happen to him (perish the thought) Biden would be our President.

Heaven help us if something should happen to Obama and Biden, our President would be Nancy Peolosi.

Long Live Obama

Well, is he right or not? Would it not be prudent to limit travel to curb the spread and exposure of this swine flu? American government should not have to worry if business doesn't like the truth.

Please people, this man may one day be the President of the United States

Can we please try and understand his slip of honesty as a case of jitters?

I agree with angelou2. The thing that really scares me about this is how my government is reacting. When and if the real deal happens it appears that commerce and economics will be put ahead of the welfare of our citizens until its too late. Makes one wonder how a non-capitalist country would react.

It is good that the government and CDC are taking proactive measures in the event that it does become a virulent pandemic. However, the fear frenzy that the news media and public officials like Biden are whipping up are completely unwarranted. Putting things into perspective, aroung 35,000 americans die from regular influenza every year. No story there. Yet there have been less than 200 reported cases of SF, with one or two deaths so far, and the "Pandemic!" scare is driving people with a cough and runny into the emergency department demanding face masks and Tamiflu. It is very possible that SF will take no more lives than in any given flu season. I wish our elected officials and news media would be more responsible in their commentary.

Biden is not real smart but what gets me is that he always tries to be so glib which only accentuates his lack of forethought.

These officials are putting the health of businesses before the health of CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY. Transportation officials are starting to freak me out. I was happy to know that Biden cared enough to give us good advice.

From all this I can tell that Transportation and CDC officials will not be able to tell us the truth when things do get ugly.

It may be politically incorrect to say these things however he is correct. The speed with which this virus is spreading and mutating suggests that people will die and isolation is a wise choice. I can say this as a micro biologist. We know our government should hide the truth so that companies may prosper.

Five Questions.

What is the Swine Flu? And why should I care?

What?
Really?
Are you sure?

"This morning, the vice president's office announced that Biden will travel to Southeastern Europe the week of May 18th and visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo."
It sounds like Vice President Biden is being sent away, far, far away, where he won't be able to speak further about swine flu (pardon me, that's H1N1). The President really should be grateful as John Stewart said last night "Joe Biden is just doing his job as Vice President, doing and saying things that make the President look really good."

What bloody nonsense, all this attention paid to what pretty much duplicates what someone for CDC said yesterday. It makes sense. If you can avoid such confinement, do. If you can't don't. Stuff the airlines who cram you in and don't provide anything but recirculating germs.
