Civil marriage does not equate marriage. There are over 1,200 special privileges and protections afforded to married people that are systematically denied to gay people. Obama may or may not support marriage, but it is up to the states, not the President to make the law. Based on these promising polls, it looks like gay marriage will be sooner than later. Liberty and justice for ALL!

Bigots are dying off, thank goodness. It also helps that republicans are no longer running everything. The world is slowly changing when it comes to hate, and we must realize that gay marriage will be a reality in the future. Just as women were once property and had no vote, blacks were slaves, and inter racial marriage was banned, tax paying patriotic Gay Americans will one day be equal, and we can all say with liberty and justice for ALL.

Civil unions do not afford the same rights that marriage. In fact there are over 1,100 special rights and privileges that married breeders have that are systematically denied to tax paying patriotic Gay Americans.

You are correct to note that "progressive" has nothing to do with where you stick your "schlong," and procreation. Senior citizens can't procreate, should they be denied marriage? What about barren women, and infertile men? Absolutely nowhere does any law state that civil marriage is the criteria for procreation.

Good idea! We can also have a national vote to see if Black Americans should be slaves again, and if inter-racial couples should be banned. Oh, let's have a vote to see if women should loose the vote.

This is about civil rights plain and simple. We are only as free as our most discriminated citizens. If Gay people are discriminated against, then America is not the land of equality, let alone the land of the free and the brave.

There is a great deal of homosexuality in the animal kingdom, especially amongst birds. It is natural, pure and simple. Perhaps if you got off the farm, or receive and education, you would know better than to make such ignorant comments.
