I can't wait until the next adminidstration investigates Obama for dropping bombs on innoncent childrend in Pakistan. This is a democratic country that we are not at war with and he has been killing children and using drones to kill suspected terrorist.
What is worse, killing the innoncent by dropping bombs on them or putting them in a box witha catapillar.
This whole thing is a joke and will go no where. Sorrr Moveon.Org and ***** code pink
I'd no love for the Bush administration, am an estranged Republican, but don't count myself a Democrat.
As to this issue, I'd say, let's establish our principles, implement them, and move on. The investigation of past transgressions would be energy wasted at a time when we have more critical future issues to be dealt with than we have energy and talent available.
Leahy's Truth Commission, huh? That's laughable, that is! This bipartisan commissions' purpose will be to blame some low-level staffer and let the higher-up offenders go!
After the Warren, the Iran-Contra, and 911 Commissions---haven't we learned yet, that these politicians act to protect themselves against the public!
Believe me, if they wanted to act, they would do it immediately, it would be aggressive and thorough, and they would name and prosecute offenders!
They just want to put on a 'horse and pony show' for the public, PRETEND they went after the offenders, to appease the public, so we don't turn around and vote them out of office.
They want to BURY the truth, not hold it up in the light!
Waterboarding is something our fighter pilots go through as part of their training, they do that because if they are shot down they will be put through that by our enemys to gain information from them. The idea that ONLY the bush administration would allow something like that speaks of a very shallow mindset by the liberals. Our enemys aren't as stupid as the liberals want us to think they are, you want proof? look at how much the liberals are blaming the American people for the problems of the rest of the world, whose side are the liberals on? not ours.
All m life Republicans have postured as proponents of law and order, morality, and patriotism. We now see them screaming against prosecution of the authors and executors of an illegal, immoral, and unconstituional policy. Let's face it, the Republican party is no longer the party of Lincoln, TR, and Ike.
By all means, Sen Leahy, investigate and lit the chips fall where they may. We no more need pro-torture Democrats than we need pro torture Republicans.
I disagree with Leahy while not agreeing with McCain. We don't need another commission to look into this. This falls squarely in the preview of the AG and the DOJ.

The Bush administration overstepped the powers of executive branch and the checks and balances written in the Constitution.
The United States does not torture period!!
Right on Senator Leahy!!!
