[The point is....more Democrats voted to pass it than republicans
... I know you mean will, but give it up will you....I can tell you don''''t even keep up with current events.]

i can tell you specialize in selective inclusion of fact in order to make your distorted case.

since you haven''t actually listed the bill by number or name ... i assume you''re speaking of the ''commodity futures modernization act of 2000''. a ridiculous piece of deregulation sponsored by republicans in both the house an senate ... and both died in committee (initially).

but those in charge of the process slip a late night rider onto an appropriations bill of over 11,000 pages in mid dec 2000. the tenants of the bill were allegedly written by energy deregulators (aka lobbyists), wendy gramm ... the previous head of the commodities futures trading commission, and wife of phil gramm, and other staffers.

if the bill wasn''t signed by clinton the whole govt would have shut down. if he veto''d it ... it would have been passed a month or so later by a republican admin/house/senate.

and if Obaman wants to tax anyone bigtime....it should it fact be the hedgefund investors and managers.....not so much the oil companies. Pretty much their profit was being written out in checks for dividends and stock repurchases which ended up being costly to the oil companies. I''''m sure they should be taxed more also when they profit from deregulation....but lets not forget about the others involved who made huge profits at the expense of the people and somehthing which should be considered a basic commoditie of life and have a CAP on it!!!

One of the things about freedom is somepeople do better than others. you cannot make laws that change that without destroying the freedom. That includes tax lws that pretend fairness but in reality penalize one group more than others. In our country, we raise your taxes faster than your salary raises. that, in itself, is a limit on freedom and fair play.

If the hedge fund guys broke laws, then prosecute them. But to tax them just because they found a wya to make more money than you is antithesis to our American freedom.

[They were senators...it was a House sponsored and passed bill.]
[Posted by TexHillGirl at 03:02 PM : Jan 20, 2009]

oh ... that makes sense now.

there are 100 senators (2 per state; 50 states). there are 435 house members (variable per state).

do they all vote on each other''s floors now?

it doesn''t add up either way.

it''s either ''where were the other members'' ... or ''where did the extra members come from''?

[The truth is....no WMD''''s were found, but that dearie does not mean they were not there....The media does not like to push the point that Sadams WMD''''s were mobile and that they was activity that shows the weapons may have been transferred to Syria and other countries....]
[Posted by laurieleemoo at 02:11 PM : Jan 20, 2009]

maybe they''re still there ... but they have a cloaking device around them ... so nobody can actually see them.

they claimed they knew exactly where they were ... and how much. if they knew this they could have just watched that location to see them moved. i assume you have the satelite images showing this.

and lastly ... read the downing street memo ... which states clear enough for a four year old to understand ... that ''the bush admin was fixing the intelligence to the policy''.
