We need to violently slash the military budget that we use for excess profits, and terrorism and genocide around the world. The military-industrial complex that Republican Eisenhower warned us about has reared its ugly head in tragic ways that are beyond Eisenhower's worst nightmares. It is immoral, sinful, tragic and barbaric how this has caused all of our financial problems.

It was never the federal governments job to fund and make these policies. They usurped the states rights to do so. That is why we face the problems we do. Don't you trust your state governments to do what is right? Do you really believe that the poor and needy would not be taken care of? If you do then we really are in big trouble as a nation. I believe we could do even more to help each other if it were left to the states because we wouldn't have Washington politicians and bureaucrats raiding the coffers before sending the money back to the states.Let them do their job which is to provide for a national defense an let's get everything else back to the states as it was intended to be. I guess that makes too much sense though.

Some government is necessary...some government is wasteful. The problem with the Tea Party is they don't differentiate between the two. Their extreme, narrow-minded ideology is more important to them than any deficit or doing what's best for the American people. This, coupled with their hatred for the President, drives their furor.

I think Boehner is more inclined to at least compromise on doing what is best overall, but sounds like the Tea Party has him in a tug of war. Bet the Repubs wish now they had never had tea and crumpets with the Tea Party.

The surprise to me reading the entire story is that Washington D.C. has it's own local money to spend. I think reality is that it is all taxpayers money and D.C. is the true meaning of "trickle down" economies.

Both sides could arrive at acceptable cuts much quicker if they would all agree to more cuts in the Defense budget. Just atacking defense fraud, waste and abuse could likely save billions.

A great example was the fiasco last February over funding for more than $3 billion for an alternative engine for the F-35 fighter jet that the military did not want, President Obama did not want, and a majority of democrats and republicans did not want. However, Speaker John Boehner and other House GOP leaders fought for the funding because it was a pet project in Boehner's district. Thank goodness it was defeated by a House vote of 223-198. What should bother us, however, is the number of representatives...198.... that voted FOR it, despite the military and other leaders saying they did not want it.

It's this kind of politics that keeps us in the mess we are in today. John Boehner should be ashamed to even demand anything of anyone when he plays such games. He does not even deserve to be Speaker.

Hold the line speaker! Can't continue to spend money we don't have. Cut deeper! It is only a 6-7 month budget now! Let the useless government employees go home, they are only concerned about their perks anyway. The essential services will continue without them. Fire all the non essential services anyway. Kind of like what is an illegal alien?

It doesn't take an idiot to realize Boehner is looking for nothing but more corporate welfare. Too many US corporations are rampantly avoiding taxes and shifting all tax burdens to the middle class.

Join the fight for improved government in America. Say no to corporate tax frauds.

So is just Boehner or just Republicans handing out welfare checks and giving tax breaks?

In reality, the cuurent administartion has increased the size gov and spending, it is now larger than our mfg segment, more people on welfare, more debt, etc.. a larger welfare state. Based on complete liberal concepts we now have fewer people working and more people getting handouts on a percentage bases than ever. More illegals and so on. People need to go back to work. Cap and trade, sourcing energy off shore, tax laws that encourage out sourcing our jobs all liberal policies that have not worked. Open your eyes. I don't say the rep's have all the answers many are cretins that should be in jail but a pure liberal approach is not the answer. It's the liberal aproach that allows corporations to take advantage so they do. The largest percentage of liberal voters are uniions and the welfare state, what does this tell you, it's not middle America

Perhaps if the IRS snagged back taxes from these 10 tax avoiders, we might have more liquidity in the treasury. Imagine that.

Screw Republicans and their tax avoiding schemes. They're white collar criminals.
