Barbara asks where the president is. The answer is that Obama has just kicked off the 2012 presidential campaign. He is placing himself in the center to pander to the vast majority of citizens who don't really care about the unfortunate Mr. Manning. But they would care and be offended if Obama were seen to be concerned about the lad's rights. As for the crimes of Bush and his Gang of Four, it is, of course, impossible for Americans to commit war crimes. Think Jimmy Stewart.

I agree 100%!!! Where is Obama? Why nothing towards bank criminals who destroyed USA economy and looted the world? What about people who exposed our own spies, like VP Cheney? He should be in jail.

T813. ART. 13 PUNISHMENT PROHIBITED BEFORE TRIAL

No person, while being held for trial, may be subjected to punishment or penalty other than arrest or confinement upon the charges pending against him, nor shall the arrest or confinement imposed upon him be any more rigorous than the circumstances required to insure his presence, but he may be subjected to minor punishment during that period for infractions of discipline. This paragraph is from the Uniform Code of Military Justice: Keeping him in solitary confinement is being more rigorous then the circumstance required. The military does not even follow their own code.

"but he may be subjected to minor punishment during that period for infractions of discipline...."

They said it was caused by a "situationally driven" event.

In my world, nakedness is certainly better than the death penalty for treason.

This is what happens when you let firm father figure conservatives take over your country and it's military. You cannot stand the truth from a hero like Bradley Manning.

Whatever the firm father freak says in right. The firm father can kill, torture and be completely immoral but it is OK as long as the conservative says it is. That is the advantage of being the father. You are in charge of the poor, the women, the children and if you have to discipline others by physical force, then that is OK. Even if it is Bradley Manning, exposing the outrageous crimes of American and the military.
