This display of political headline grabbing is appalling in the lowest possible form. We are, in fact, citizens of This, United States of America and Detroit is a city within. It's an extremely popular ad, for Good Reason. The people of this country are looking for hope and, this is a hopeful ad.
The interjection of any hopeful direction during this difficult time is something of hope. Why rain on the parade? Clearly, it's for personal gain. Not a smart move, and, very transparent. To put down a corporation that is beginning to rise financially and supporting jobs instead of going down is wrong. It's the simple.
To have such an influential character who is willing to step up to contribute is wonderfully inspiring news. Many people are very supportive of this man, and, this city's recovery. Perhaps some politician's could stand with a briefing on domestic benefits of common sense and patriotism.

We should only be buying American, especially now with the economy.
Congress should even go as far as to upgrade all of the government owned vehicles, would be much more effective than rebuilding roads to further the economy.

If that commercial didn't cause you to feel some pride and patriotism, you're just a loser who has to find something negative or someone to blame in everything.

The Republicans don't care about jobs in America. The just gave that lip service to get back in office. What they do care about is corporate profits that will go to the wealthy and if that comes for overseas jobs they could care less. All you working class morons that vote Republican will see you jobs gone too. The Republican harped jobs jobs jobs and when they got control of the house the just went of trying to keep making the rich richer. If they had their way there would be no GM or Chrysler. The rich can just invest overseas, they don't care about you.

Unfortunately, what redway633 has written is quite true. Despite all the pre-election talk about jobs & the economy being their only focus, Republicans are doing nothing to support either now that they are in office. It's all about the social conservative agenda. They lied, pure and simple...so what's new?

BS (beyond stupid).. Supporting corporations does support america, where does everyone work? Also last time I checked 2 of the top 3 richest people in the world are Americans who run large corporations based in America. Employing Americans.

These conservatives are sounding incredibly anti-American. What's wrong with celebrating a rebounding industry that once made America great? It's a great American story of can do and resilience. I think they are just now realizing that their view on the bailouts (while none of us like having to do it)is wrong.

Did you not receive the memo? Conservatives are pro "Real America" . Unfortunately Detroit is only about 20% "Real American".

Nothing is "made" in Detroit anymore. Most Chryslers are made in Canada or Mexico. Some are assembled in the U.S. with parts that come from all over the world. Try to finds anything that is wholly made in America, including cars.

Conservative writer J.P. Freire at the Washington Examiner blasted the ad in a column today, asking, "Is spending millions on a Super Bowl ad appropriate for a company that received a taxpayer bailout to recover from a bankruptcy?"

--------------------------------------------------

I'm sure he did not complain about the large bonuses the CEO's that killed these companies received.

Exactly. Companies do not spend money on super bowl ads because they like to. They do it because it makes good business sense. The hypocrisy of these guys is unbelievable.

Yeah no kidding. I remember the Republicans fought like lions to protect the gigantic bonuses for rich executives of companies bailed out by uncle Sam. Apparently spending money on other things or other people is a waste.

The right wing bashed the President for trying to get the Olympics for Chicago and the USA. Now they bash Chrysler (and Obama) for a great commercial and the success of Chrysler and its benefits for Detroit. Whose side are they on?!

What success? The comercial features the "NEW" Chrysler 200. All Chrysler did was rebadge the Sebring which has been rated the lowest in its class by most every automotive mag published for years. Chrysler has been on life support for years and are still struggling to repay the bailout money. I owned my one and only Chrysler product 10 years ago and though I felt the design of the vehicle was great, I couldn't trust it because I had to keep replacing the transmission in it. Chrysler has been plagued with this type of problems for a very long time. Maybe FIAT can turn them around, but I doubt it.
