BS poll... I demand to know what this crooked ass country is up to and who we are fleecing , and manipulating to appease the puppet masters.
Americans are sheep and are being used and herded to do the bidding of the few, the power mongers who will leave this country in the dust and just re-appear somewhere else where they can further manipulate distort and cheat their way to more money which ='s more power and more manipulations.
when i came to this country 12 years ago i expected(because of all shiny things) to find very reasonable people here because i didn't know the genesis of your wealth gathering,so what i saw around myself greatly disappointed me.then i learnt a great deal about this nation and pieces fell into place.this whole society is actually one big mafia.and people are always "concerned" when mafia bosses get caught in doing something dirty.and for years i was getting nervous because people around me are so dishonest, greedy and just plane indecent.but now i accept it that it cannot be different, like the stripes on the tyger.to try to persuade you to become decent is beyond hopeless.you must fall onto your noses and get bloodynosed again and again until you finaly get it for the benefit of all mankind.this wiki-hysteria is again call to the "faithful" to show their stripes from indian-murdering,negro-enslaving,children-nuking,freedom-fries past, call to rednecks to get up and show the others.but the times are a-changing.thanks to the internet, secrets are coming out.i know that you will not listen to my advice, but it is good one:start being mad at those who do dirty stuff, not those who put it on wickyleaks.mr.asange,i am proud of you.(to hell with rednecks)
Interesting, of the 76 messages posted so far, I couldn't find more than 3% that actually felt that Americans "had no right to know national security secrets". The government lies to us whenever it will be profitable for some politician, political party, lobbyist, or big corporation. It's all about money and power and they don't like us seeing their dirty laundry.
Disagree. National security secrets are a necessity. >I< personally don't want North Korea knowing our skematics to make nuclear warheads, where OUR nuclear warheads are stored, the location of our government satalites, troops, etc. The poll does not have a "Yeah, the public can't know everything but they really should know more than they do" option. The only logical choice to the poll is the one that most people answered.
When the government screws up or just wants to hide it's lies to the public all it has to do is site "National Security". Anybody and his dog can slap that label on any information it wants and that will bury it for them. They use it for presents for their mistress, money they paid to Karzi, and renditions that we don't know about yet. I was going to ask if anybody knew what constitutes "National Security" but that information is classified under "National Security" along with every thing else your not supposed to know. Go Wiki !!
It's unfortunate that Americans slavishly and blindly parrot the government lies that WikiLeaks is "dangerous" because it exposes the truth.

The federal government has repeatedly violated legal limits governing the surveillance of U.S. citizens, according to previously secret internal documents obtained through a court battle by the American Civil Liberties Union.
In releasing 900 pages of documents, U.S. government agencies refused to say how many Americans' telephone, e-mail or other communications have been intercepted under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act - or FISA - Amendments Act of 2008, or to discuss any specific abuses, the ACLU said. Most of the documents were heavily redacted.
This poll is most likely legitimate but very skewed. The question has NOTHING TO DO WITH WIKILEAKS but instead national security. They took the question and randomly put wikileaks in the title. The question is essentually "Does the public have the right to know EVERYTHING". The obvious response is "No, the public shouldn't know...The skematics for a nuclear bomb, troop positionings the day before an attack, the names of our spies in other countries, etc. etc." and therefore the obvious answer to anybody being asked (who is not thinking about wikileaks) is "No, the public doesn't have the right to know everything" which is the option most people picked. The poll is legitimate. The article about the poll results is not.
:::: THIS Poll SHOWS :::: how stupid most Americans are indeed. As usual, another sign of stupidity and foolishness. Stick to CNN, CBC news to get your news and enjoy being ignorant and consume as much as you can and finally god bless America.
too bad wiki wasn't around during the vietnam gulf of tonkin conflict when the u.s. government lied to it's people and said they were attacked(never happened). the u.s. used it as a justification for sending thousands of troops to vietnam. maybe if wiki was around then they could have saved thousands of lives. likewise pearl harbor which was no sneak attack(the u.s. needed a bloodbath in order to go to war) and the phoney WMD were lies.
What is meant by the word "hurt"? If it means that the image of U.S. foreign political diplomats or domestic politicians will become suspect in the future, then yes I agree. If you mean that the public has no right to know the contents of those documents (oover-classified as secret) then I would disagree, especially when the cables or reports involve illegal, unethical or immoral activities. This is known as whistleblowing and it should be used against the perpetrators.
