The fact that 70% of Democrats want to vote themselves tax breaks and deny them for the segment of society that pays the vast majority of taxes is indicative of the problem with Democrats. It's a party of govenment employees (I would never say "workers"), union members, and other freeloaders. I can excuse the young for being democrats, they just haven't been around long enough to know how things really work, and how unjust this is. I remember a quote to the effect that the end of democracy will come when 51% of the voters come to realize they can vote themselves 100% of the income. It may be democratic, but it isn't right.
You obviously hold the opinion that a) government workers are Democrats b) these workers are not "white"
It explains a lot about the tea party folks, who are against the government (probably got ignored or worse... told what to do by a .... ahhhhhh black! person at the DMV or somewhere) are really just against not being the one who is ALWAYS in charge or the boss. These Americans just can not accept that a black or other minority person is not automatically "below" them.
It's about some sort of misplaced fear, it isn't about government policy. Interesting...
Conservatives -- you have been played like violins by the Republicans. They found your fear, exploited it and then promised you a whole lot of stuff -- that they can not and will not deliver.
From my last Blog>> The idiot that I refered to that said "They should of found a job!" better be glad that I'm a Christian and need this job to take care of my family otherwise I'd...never mind. I'm coming up for retirement pretty soon so it's better for me to be cool and pray for our country, President and the unemployed Americans.
What really hurts me to my heart is that law abiding American people, men, women, children and some of us that have even fought for this country will be cast aside from our society. Without EUB some will be subjected to homelessness and even outdoor conditions while drug dealers, murderers, rapist and child molesters are sleep in warm beds, wake to breakfast, watch TV, use the internet and some will even get a tax return. How do the right wing and the republicans sleep at night? I talked to a right wing guy I work with about this and the DUMB Sarah Palin worshiping SOB replied,"They should of found a job!"...typical.
I sure do, only when I provide stats and information I cite the original source of the data vs. taking information from an article on some partisan blog that is pushing an agenda. I appreciate the answer though.
The top 1% also pay more in federal income tax than the bottom 95%. Regardless of the rate they pay, I think it's safe to say they are carrying their share of the nations tax burden.
(irs.gov SOI tax stats; number of Returns, Shares of AGI and Total Income Tax, and Average Tax Rates Table s)
They were talking about hedge-fund managers that make hundreds of millions of dollars and through a loophole in the law pay taxes on it at the capital gains rate of 15%. Now I suppose you think this is fine and dandy even though you are probably working harder and paying a much higher rate on less income, but then again, most of you righties are like a bunch of battered women shilling for the rich.
It's finally dawned on me how much we have declined as a society. We have become a nation of free loaders content to exist on the backs of others. 47% of American's received a tax return this year that equaled or exceeded the amount of federal income tax with held from their paychecks, yet demand even more from those who have spent time investing in themselves to learn marketable skills, advance in their careers and waited to have babies until they could afford to raise them on their own dime.
The fact is the free loading 47% wants the other 53% to pay more so that they can get more handouts. You vilify the very people who have been carrying your water and fund the country. Paying taxes is supposed to be about "social responsibility". Well, the 53% paying for the government and benefits you enjoy are doing there part, what are the other 47% doing? Maybe it's time for the rest of you to kick in some cash and stop living off the sweat of others. Or at the very least, start to live with in your means and taking personal responsibility. Stop having babies you can't support with out a tax credit from the government, and make sure the ones you do have are learning skills that will lead to good job so they don't grow up to be freeloaders like their mom and dad.
Adam Smith explained that Wealth should be taxed, not Labor. That is the entire base of the progressive tax system that all modern nations follow. That is why, out of all the hundreds of taxes people face, this ONE tax (federal income tax) is designed the way it is. Every American pays hundreds of different taxes. It is odd that you focus on just income tax and claim that some people don't pay taxes.
That's because a lot of Americans are economically ignorant as to what addition taxes with do during this recession. It is stupid to suck more money out of the private sector and into a bloated federal government during a recession. There are people who have a hatred for anyone who makes more money than they do, and it is sickening.
These people try to blame this recession on the rich, but the rich have been around for a long time (they didn't just sprout up over the last few years) - the huge unemployment rate has continued since President Obama and an idiotic Congress began to rule. I make nowhere near $250,000, but don't try to pin this on rich people.
In the beginning, I wasn't so sure about Boehner. However, I am beginning to like this guy. It's refreshing to hear a politician call "chicken crap" by it's proper name. I hope he sweeps the chicken crap out that big old chicken coup known as Washington DC.
Bonehead is an idiot. Tax cuts on the rich for the last ten years haven't helped create jobs and won't. The rich derive most of their income from dividends, capital gains, and interest income, which are taxed at ridiculously low rates. The tax rates on the rich are lower now than they've been in decades and decades. I don't really care, but if the deficit is going to be dealt with, tax rates on the rich will have to increase or the burden will be borne by the rest of us. Take your pick! As Warren Buffet (second richest person in the USA) said, there is a class war, and his class is winning.
The sad truth is people who draw unemployment checks spend virtually all of that money on their own upkeep, distributing those dollars to local businesses and effectively supporting other people's jobs. Thanks to the Republicans blocking to extend emergency unemployment benefits could eliminate another 593,000 jobs over the next year, while slowing economic expansion. The wealthy will continue to do what they have done in the last 10years and that is promise all of you "SUCKERS" jobs while paying cheaper wages overseas and pocketing the profits. Ask Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. Meg spent 160,000,000.00 she had laying around on her campaign and lost. No biggy for her.
My dad worked for a factory job back in the 1970's and 1980's. During this time, he was laid off several times for various reasons. Once was for just under three straight years. Yet he had money SAVED for such an event. Unemployment payments were rare or non-existent for most of that time. I sleep quite well not paying people who have made little attempt to save money for such an event and who think that they have a right for someone else paying for their lack of effort, foresight, and non-productivity. I have been out of work several times in my life, and rather than sitting around whining about not getting free money for almost two years, I went out and found jobs and made lifestyle changes to accompany my income. Yes, some of those jobs involved less money or more hours or harder work. Yes, I had to cut back of frills and the little nicities that make life more pleasant. But at least I didn't whine about it. My brother just got fired from a job, but had plans in place to compensate for this. And yes I do have money saved up if I am out of work for an extended time frame. How many of these people refuse work because they might make less (quite a few!) or it is easier to sit back and collect money not doing anything? Too many. You would not believe some of the jobs I had to take to get by. Try cleaning septic tanks or working in fields. Yet most people, especially those drawing unemployment, would not even begin to consider such a thing. As far as the effect on the economy, with or without this extension, it has an almost negligible effect.
saransk sounds like the reincarnation of Trotsky or Lenin--- <90% of those over $250K own small businesses that aren't going to hire in an uncertain tax situation and CERTAINLY won't hire if they're obligated under an insane health scheme to pay out money for extra benefits---Obama is an economy killer and the unemployment rate will go WAY over 10% if the small business types get the double whammy of higher taxes and a new health care entitlement. I trust Saransk has never met a payroll and has a marxist djinn in her brain telling her how to hate the GOP. What pitiful excuses of human garbage display their ignorance on this thread...
