Anyone who is serious about the deficit can not be serious about not both raising taxes and cutting spending. Its not easy but Repubs have to agree to raise some taxs, and Dems haveto agree to cut some spending. Have some spine and fix the mess we put ouselves into.

President Obama is just plain wrong on this.

Increased taxes on Americans: This is not rocket science. The private sector creates private sector jobs. If taxes are increased on anyone, it redirects money out of the private sector and into Washington. This negatively impacts our struggling job market, and worsens unemployment. What aggravates me is this: President Obama is not a stupid man, and he has to understand this. His insistence on raising taxes on anyone during a recession means that he desires a massive expanded federal government more than he desires jobs for Americans.

The idiotic health care bill: The stupid health care bill is the single worse disaster for the US economy. It will bankrupt the United State federal government. Each year, this government spends far more than it has. This year we witnessed a record breaking $1.3 trillion deficit. May 2010 CBO figures indicate that this health care bill will cost us $1 trillion in new spending over 10 years. WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR THIS! On top of that, it will bankrupt the states by unfunded mandates to increase greatly Medicaid - forcing the states to pay billions in funds that they do not have. Thirdly, this bill will result in the majority of Americans to have increases in health care costs (premiums must go up to cover the provisions). Lastly, the majority of Americans are against this bill. IT IS SIMPLY IDIOTIC NOT TO REPEAL THIS BILL!

Actually you are wrong. Expiring the tax cuts for the wealthy will have little effect on jobs...tax cuts do not affect jobs when the amount is this little. The wealthiest tednd to save money, rather than put in back into the economy. We have had these tax cuts for 10 years, and they have not produced jobs. However, not expriningt them will add $700b to the deficit over the next 10 years.

The CBO backs up this assertion.

The HC plan, according to the CBO saves tax payers 130b over 10 years and and 2.2 t the next 10 years...you did not mention that in your quote.

lwarstler says:
The problem with our government today is the same as the posts above. There are too many people trying to prove their view is right and not enough looking at reality. The truth is that the war was expensive, the truth is that Obama forced a healthcare plan that all polls showed Americans did not want and is now causing issues for all but 33% of the people he thought it wouldn't. The fact also is that liberals and republicans alike are so focused on being right that they have forgotten to be Americans. That means each one is allowed to their opinion and majority rules because that is the only fare way to deal with the incredibly varied views in our country.

Republicans should never not vote for a bill just because it was written by Democrats and probably has merit. Democrats should not decide that it is ok to treat people unequally based on the amount of money they have. It may make it easier on our government to do what they want but it is not based on the principle of equallity our country was founded on. We need to look back over the principles of our country and decide what we stand for...are we really for equality, or just for those we think need it more, are we really about freedom of thought and speech or just for those we approve of. As long as each party is self-serving and concerned about getting their way, we will ALL continue to lose and divide.

How can one find common ground with Poison? Where is the meeting of the mind when the Leftists are intent on having trillion and half dollar deficits as far as the eye can see. The Liberals took Congress 4 years ago. The total debt was some 8.5 trillion. Today we are at 14.3 trillion. And that does NOT include ObamaCare. That will add 2.4 trillion more. And every year that we allow Obama,Reid and Pelosi to have any control we will add another 1.5 trillion to the debt.

Ignore the calls from the Liberal Media to find "common ground" with the Regime. Where was the Media last year when ObamaCare was being rammed down our throats? Answer? They were cheer leading Obama to be "more Visionary, more forceful" etc etc

Lets not forget what happened and how Conservatives were treated. Now the shoe is on the other foot BIG TIME. Lets defund EVERY SINGLE THING they passed, and then start passing some REAL hope and Change.

Go back and look at the deficits then and now. IT was all in there. Until the Liberals got in Bush ran a very minor deficit. Facts are facts. When Bush was President the Debt to GDP was ranged from 57-64%.
The first year the Liberals got in they took the deficit to 71% of GDP . Now four years later the Left has us on track to 100% of GDP. So in just four short years look what your heroes have done.

Well yeah, the Republicans support massive tax bailouts for the rich which will raise the budget deficit, endless wars for corporate profits, and are dead set to cause President Obama to fail as President. They won't even sign things they actually agree with.

While Democrats are also owned and run by giant corporate money, they at least have some regard for the people they serve, compassion for workers and families and saving the environment.

Lets not forget the devaluation of the dollar that has been caused by ObaMao's reckless and naive policies. Then add in the inflation coming as we inflate our way out of a 16 trillion dollar hole. Then lets not forget what is happening right now, as our dollar lowers in value they arabs which price oil in dollars per barrel are raising there prices since we are paying them with devalued dollars. All thanks to our friends from the Liberal Left.

And then we have to add in the 6 trillion dollars that the unholy trio of Obamboozler,Pelosi and Reid have shoved down America's throat in the last 4 years. Then we have to add another 2.4 trillion to pay for the REAL cost of ObamaCare. Soooooooooooooooo I can see what you mean about having such regard and compassion for the people they serve. (JOKE)

To RickChicago1: it's funny how you state that the past four years how our deficit has grown due to the liberals. Obama and the Democrats have only been in office and control of both houses for 2 years, and the previous two years were Bush and the Republicans. Funny how that is a fact known to all but you wish to put blame all on the Democrats and Obama. The bank bailouts were started by Bush, yet you probably would state that it was all Obama. The war in Iraq was Bush's and his Republican counterparts. But you would probably blame Obama for that also. Quit looking to put blame on the Democrats and Obama, which is nothing more than the blame game, and start looking at your own party, the Republicans. I guarantee that the Republicans will cause gridlock because that is what they want to do in the first place. Then where will this country be?

Massive tax bailouts for the rich, You are so koolaid fed your dribbling lies and inuendos like the rest of the Dimocrats. 3% is not a massive tax bailout for anyone, and there is no Republican bailouts those were all Dimocratic pork projects, just look at the Stimulis, and GM/Chrysler bills.
