He only made one really costly mistake: ousting the guy who was doing a wonderful job of controlling the "thugs" in Iraq, old Saddam himself. Saddam was a necessary evil, Saddam in power was better than the status of Iraq now, along with the huge price of American soldiers lives on top of it all.

A few street thugs with box cutters having ablade about an inch long were able to control hundreds of dumb sheep sitting strapped down in their seats on an airplane that had almost zero security at check in. Oh yeah they check out you baggage for things like PORN, a teaspoon of marijuana and contraband, guns etc but let people walk right in with anything else.
