The insurance companies were suppose to work with the government to assure health care for all or face going out of business. They have no business raising premiums. single payor health care for all americans is the only answer. otherwise it is business as usual. the people that caused the collapse of america were installed by obama to fix the problem they created. fat chance. they made sure their failed policies continue under obama and beyond. when they got what they wanted, they left government service.
Guess Obama can't count any better than he can govern. It's been a lot longer than overnight, and if his proposed tax increases and health plan go into in effect, the next two years are going to seem more like 200.!

Ah, yes, us "freaks", of course. What was that you were saying about "civil discourse", democracy5?
by smitvict October 28, 2010 12:27 PM EDT democracy5, Obama had 2 years of Democratic control of the house and senate. Time to stop blaming the minority republicans and have Obama take responsibility.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
How convenient for you to ignore all of the procedures available to the minority party to block and obstruct bills from moving forward. Republican use of the filibuster is unprecedented. Democrats also don't all vote in lock step like Republicans, and yes, there are Democrats that would like to see this President fail as well. It would be a different situation if Republican hadn't informed the American people that they wanted the President to fail, that they had no intentions on working with the President, that they wanted health care reform to be his Waterloo, and they intend to make sure he is a one term President. The most impressive thing about President Obama is that despite efforts to see him fail, he continues to do what he feels is best for the country just like George Bush, Bill Clinton, Bush 1, Ronald Reagan and all the other Presidents. Unfortunately for this country some people would rather see our country fail than to work with or support the duly elected President of the United States of America. History will record the horrible behavior and treatment our President received from a bunch of poor loser, anti American, unpatriotic people who hate this President for the most unreasonable reasons. Reasons that they will never admit to by the way.
Listen folks: the blame game is over. I think all possible (although not all plausible) arguments have been made, and it's clear that the one side cannot convince the other or even agree to disagree. It's time to JUST SHUT UP AND VOTE and let the results speak for themselves. My bets are that the silent majority will win.
You don't get change by doing the same old-same old. Change is scary, change takes you out of your comfort zone, change requires the courage to do things a new way, the courage to publicly take on special interest. Obama had the backing of the people, in America and even most of the world--but Obama was not smart enough to see that. Obama sat back and played it safe. Leaders create more and more followers. If Obama had continued with real change, he would have created more followers. He'll have to do a genuine 180 to get any votes in 2012. We all know he can talk a big talk, but he hasn't taken a single step of change. Yes we desperately need health care reform. But Obama's health care bill is a flimsy piece of junk. We need a better bill. Shame on Obama.
the-one-king, (He is my King too by the way), the recession was caused by de-regulation of the finance industry, allowing bad mortgages which people could not afford, so the industry crashed. President Bush fought a war paid for by selling government bonds to the Chinese. In World War II, the people paid for the war, buying Liberty Bonds, and other wars were paid for by increasing taxes during the war. So a recession would have happened, Democrat or Republican president in 2008. But, Hillary should be president in 2012. Hillary Clinton has more saavy and she knows how to govern. Obama should actively support Hillary for 2012. Obama needs to tell the people that he is stepping down. Even better, Obama should hand in his resignation now. Clint Eastwood is right about Obama, Obama doesn't know how to govern. Obama is timid, too political, Obama is a "public servant" in the tradition of a lower-level civil servant, but tht's all.
And Republicans would treat Hilary Clinton just as bad.
You don't seem to get it. Republicans think they are the only ones that can run the country. Into the ground but never the less, they think they have all the answers. They think they can screw the country but it's okay they are the only ones that can do that. They don't much care if their answers are poor or don't work or ruin the country, they are th only ones capable of doing anything.
I am tired of hearing the argument that poor Obama inherited all the problems from the Bush Administration. The Democrats had control of Congress for Bush's last two years under Nancy Peolosi. Obama never mentions that.
And you guys never mention that Bush had VETO power over anything that they did. Do you think that we're so stupid that we don't KNOW that? Or maybe YOU are.
Reagan inherited a mess from Carter too, just like Obama. At the end of Reagan's second year unemployement was going down and the economy was improving. Obama is telling us that, after two years, change takes time. American's are smart enough to see failed policies when they see them.
1st off the mess inherited by Obama is bigger than any mess inherited by any president since FDR. In fact this recession was almost another depression and is deeper than all the recession combined since the depression. 2nd in the 80's interest rates were 20%. I'm not kidding. I borrowed off life insurance policy and put it in CD and made money! Lowering them by the Fed was an option that was used to help revive our economy. The fed did NOT have that option available in 2007 or 2008 because rates have been kept historically low for most of the Bush years just to keep the economy going.

No action on sending jobs offshore, no action on creating jobs at all, means no reason to support this President, at all.
