in case you didnt know the upcomung election is not for president so what does that have to do with obama? i think the reason he is trying to phase out this policy is to help everyone get used to the idea and so that people are staying more focused on their job rather than on who the person fighting next to them is going to go home to. i say that if someone is willing to die for their country then let them- gay, straight, mormon, athiest, white, purple, it really shouldn't matter if they are willing to do what most would run from
Iteresting poll. I wonder what the results would be if they polled those actually in the military, not those outside telling them how to live their lives while serving their country.
There have always been gays in the military. Anyone who has ever served in uniform knows that. They did their duty and didn't bother anyone. Seems like the biggest howls against homosexuals in the military come from the computer commandos and the sports-bar crowd... neither of whom has the courage to don a uniform.

It's their performance on the battlefield and not in the bedroom that matters! Where is the PROOF that the current presence of gays on the battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan has hurt the effectiveness of individual combat units? If it had, it most assuredly would have manifested itself by now. End this last vestige of sex discrimination in the US, just as we ended racial, marital, and other types of discrimination.
only 804 out of some 300 million population were polled and various declarations are assumed or pronounced. polls are funny. as for lgbts in the military, it's an all volunteer military so why anyone would care is beyond me. if anyone is 100% straight and doesn't want to serve with lgbts then don't enlist, don't make the military your life's career. if you are currently in the military, and 100% straight, get out as soon as you can and let lgbts fill all the ranks of the various military branches. if the draft were in place, it would mean different options for those who are 100% straight.
Really addnarm! So now we're going to be putting people in jail for publicly disapproving of homosexuality! If that's the way we're going then we could save ourselves a lot of trouble by rounding up people who think like you and shooting them.
