So long as America keeps her soul as a nation of laws established by both legislature and the courts, I don't CARE what rural Americans think about the laws made by the courts. Today is a GREAT victory for the LGBT community! Bigots are still running around writing and saying "*****" and using derogatory words to label people different from them. The same Bible they kiss is the same one held up at Klan rallies, in defense against women's rights and so on. When I consider the types of people--the low intellects, the bigots, the stupid people, who are against equality, it gives me such peace and self-satisfaction. I enjoy knowing that I am better than they are. I enjoy a high self-esteem partially based on the realization, I'm on the correct side of history. I'm a true patriot, like the progressives before me. The bigots and country nobodies who's only mark in this land are their seed, never leaving a contribution of greatness on their own, mean nothing. They fade away and are discounted as fools as civil rights move forward without them. So, they'll sit in their mobile home trailers and curse the world, much like the ones before them. They'll continue to be hypocrits, screwing their women and paying for abortions, all the while talking only about my anal sex (while they're backdooring their girlfriends, too). You know who you are, and I don't fear you--at all! I welcome your hatred and wear your despise like a badge of honor! F...(fill in the blank) you.
They have a right to be angry. Obama lost his moral compass and has spent more time trying to appease the morons at Fox News and the Republican leadership instead of leading this country like the voters of 2008 wanted him to. He and fellow Democrats need to realize we are at war with the taliban right-wing of America and we can either progress into the 21st century or backslide into the 1950s. Their fear and messages of hate must be met directly and with voice raised and the correct message stated bluntly. The Republicans are bigots, racists, and neaderthals and have a huge propgagnda network to spread their filth and lies. We stood up in 2008 and defeated these forces of evil. We were naive to think they would go away. Their hate is even greater. Our viligance must be equally strong.
You can always vote the other party in...see what that gets you. Sometimes you have to be content with small steps. Eventually you do reach your destination.
This is a legitimate complaint - but the timing sucks. When the past and the sitting Joint Chiefs including Colin Powell say it is a bad law somebody should stand up and pay attention. Still, you have to question the timing of this particular demonstration---who was served?
Are gays better off with Supreme Court justices like Clarence Thomas and John Roberts, or justices like Elena Keagan and Sonja Sotomayor? If I were a member of the gay minority, I'd want to be careful not to swing the balance to the party which might elect a president who would be likely to appoint anti-gay justices.
The president does seem to be becoming the timid little rabbit; he better grow some fast in order for the Dems to maintain some seats in the House and Senate.
Gays and rights? Sodomy (anal or oral copulation with a member of the same sex) was illegal all my years growing up and I was born in 1952, has that law since changed? I'm not sure how gays can call themselves Christians either, have they forgotten Sodom and Gomorrah? Archeology has found the ruins of those two ancient cities and even found balls of brimstone within the cities, but not outside. If this is something God looks down upon then how can they call themselves Christians and think God approves now? I used to call my wife a "cafeteria Christian", she went through the Bible and took what she liked and left what she didn't like, but that doesn't work! You have to take it all, learn from it all, as a whole it's important, in pieces picked through taking just what you personally like then you're missing the point.

I've looked, I've been totally unable to find anything conclusive, I'm sorry but the data assumes that I'm a believer in the accuracy of biblical writings - which I'm not. I believe God experimented with species before making mankind, after all man didn't walk with the dinosaurs and the dinosaurs are proven to have been here before man, or do you not believe in the dinosaurs either? My belief is that the history of mankind is less than 10,000 years old but the Earth itself many millions of years old.
yes, the laws have changed. Most state laws prohibiting what you refer to as sodomy have been challenged and stricken down. Otherwise, states that still have anti-sodomy laws choose not to enforce them because they are basically unenforceable. When is the last time you heard or saw a news story about anyone being arrested and charged with commiting sodomy? If you have please share it with us. Otherwise, get over it~

bud28dy - There are differences. Gays already receive protection under the law. Ever hear of hate crimes? Unlike blacks, gays are not generally discrimated against when it comes to employment opportunities, where they live, or at the voting booth. Nor are they forced to live in segregation, only allowed to attend certain schools, or forced to sit in the balcony of movie theatres. To even compate gays to the blacks is a disservice to the discrimination blacks suffered.
