gfrobison27932 ...... you said that the alledged students were from Congressman Etheridge's District on a previous post..... please supply the source where you found the interrviewer and videographer stating that.
Mortarman you wrote...."If they were from his district, then they he shouldnt have assaulted them..." ..... grammar seems to be a concern of this site so .... when people start saying that others are idiots, correcting their grammar and telling them to go back to the crack pile it is pertinent to know that these very intelligent people have their facts correct.
gfrobinson27932 said in a post that Etheridge was "their congressman" refering to the videographer and interviewer and I am asking for verification of that information. It matters if a poster is telling the truth or not while posting. It goes to the integrity of the poster and I am still waiting for a factual response to the site location stating that Etheridge is "their congressman"!
Yes! It matters if they are really students and where they are from. It goes to their credibility, their motivation, and the possibility of a set-up. If they are not just more posers ACTING as journalist/students/ videographers, they should have come forth and identified themselves. Refusing to identify themselves or where they were from and having their faces blurred on the video gives a very strong impression they were hiding while doing everything possible to entrap Etheridge. Posting videos through a conservative Republican site tells their intent and it matters that they be honest enough to identify themselves and answer the question of where they are from.
Any good journalist needs the who part of the story yet CBS had no problem going with this story without information of who exactly these people were, where they were from and who employed them.
Hey Mortarman_29,
Since when is swatting off a couple of pests "acting like an idiot". I think Congressman Etheridge should have carried a gun and he could have pistol whipped the punks. Maybe beat them with the butt of a hunting rifle. Now that I would spend the time to watch!
The Republicans are outraged? No wonder the guy didn't want to talk to these guys-they were probably Republican plants. While I would say the conressman should have ignored them, and shouldn't have touched them, there are too many so-called "journalists" and "whistle-blowers" who actually have a hidden agenda. If those guys were legitimate journalists then they should have identified themselves.
He should have just walked away and ignored their questions. He chose to accost them. He made his bed, now he's got to lie in it. Good riddance Etheridge.
Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but, Bob Etheridge definitely has my vote now! I'm a Republican, but I'm simply sick and tired of watching a bunch of wimps prancing around trying to be "politically correct". This guy isn't afraid to stand up for himself, and he's the only one in Washington D.C. who appears to have the strength to do so. Bob Etheridge is a REAL MAN. Screw all you little pansy wimps!
What difference does political party make? The congressman physically assaulted a student. If you've ever met Bob Etheridge in real life, the man is a tower - over 6 feet tall! And why would the student's question be offensive?
You run a business and YOUR employee walks by and you ask him/her a question. The employee becomes agitated and then pointedly asks you...
?Who are you?? And you respond appropriately, politely... ?I?m your boss?.
But that?s not acceptable to your employee, so he gets in your face, grabs your arm in a condescending aggressive manner asking the exact same question.
?Who are you??
You reply the same... ?Just your boss, sir.?
Still not the response your employee wants as he looks down at you with spite & scorn.
Your employee then grabs your neck, as if scolding an unruly child, and repeats the exact same question... (The definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting different results.)
?Who are you??
Just where in that display and exchange does it require any other response then ?I?m your boss? to an employee who asks who you are? Where?s the respectful polite interaction displayed by the idiot employee (Congressman)? ZERO!
The employee is on the receiving end! It is HE who should humble in the face of a question and/or verbal approach. This was NOT a belligerent confrontation but a respectful approach in an act to confront an EMPLOYEE with a simple, polite question!
Of course in the real world the result of an employee responding in such an insubordinate manner to his boss is immediate termination!
An appropriate response from the Congress-Clown should have been either...
?Good morning/afternoon gentlemen... I?m sorry, but I have no comment at this time.? and moved on. or... ?Hi, and what organization or media affiliation do you represent?... I can give you gentlemen a minute if that would help you?
Congressmen are SERVANTS, not lords or royalty! They are EMPLOYEES! They answer to us, WE ARE THEIR BOSSES!
They EARN our respect by their humble acts and words (without reproach), obedience to the rule-of-law, being trustworthy in honoring their oath-of-office in upholding and defending the US Constitution and... loyally represent their bosses? interests... not their own!
Funny how conservatives have such big mouths, but they start whining when confronted with a real challenge. Kind of like that big mouth Cheney who got about 1000 deferments to avoid going to Viet Nam. Shows the character and intelligence of a large number of Americans that these guys enjoy any support at all.
No crack here just you jumping to conclusions ..... btw ..... where exactly did you here in the video that these people were from in Congressman Etheridge's District when he asked them that question?????
Why does it matter? The guy assaulted him. He didnt have to indentify himself. The congressman could have just said "until you identify yourself, I am not talking to you." And then walked away.
Bob Etheridge should be charged with assault. It is clearly a congressman who no longer has any self-control. He may have some alcohol or drug dependency issues.
