The last time we had a big runup in gold in the eighties many people got severely burned when the price of gold suddenly came down. And you can expect the same thing to happen now. As the recession fades and business and employment rebound, gold will tumble.
And when do you suppose that will happen? I don't see jobs coming back for a long time. I see our goverment spending us into oblivion. I see business tightening up more every day. I see my healthcare costs skyrocketing in a few years and I see a stock market run by a bunch of theives. I see our politicians are only in the game for what they can do for themselves and each other. In the 80's we didn't have half the problems we have now. In the meantime, gold is a good asset to have. At the very least washington can print trillions more gold coins. If I had bought gold in the 80's I'd still be ahead of the game now. I can't say that about my 401K or my IRA's.

washington doesn't (or can't) "print" gold coins for TWO good reasons, number one: coins aren't printed, they are minted. And number two: "washington" doesn't mint coins, that's done in Philly and Denver....

Glen Beck is a goof ball, I think he means well, but he's too goofy. As for the idea of Gold, I started buying some in 2007 and have done quite well. Wish I could say the same for our retirement funds.!! I would recomend everyone own a little gold. It's the one thing the goverment can't keep printing. Why do you think you see all those TV commercials of companies wanting to BUY all of YOUR old gold and silver. They know whats coming, they want all they can get their hands on before the dollar starts to tank! Weiner is just upset people might own an asset he can't tax!
I know they don't print coins, but they do PRINT dollars by the boat load. I didn't buy gold lately, I bought at about $625-$650. It's worked out quite nicely. As for stocks, I have no faith in the markets anymore. Stocks are not for the long term anymore. If I were a trader, getting in and out on a daily weekly/basis, that might work. For long term investment, it's a joke. The banksters decide when to take joe six pack to the cleaners. Convinicing everyday people to trust the big boys with their money again is going to be a hard sell. As for gold/silver......I'll still be a buyer until things change. Just look at all those pension funds the big boys played fast and loose with. Yeah, banks got a bail out but did the pension holders?
In the tradition of Glenn Beck and nastrodamus, I am making a prediction. The last lunatic (in my opinion) like Beck committed suicide when his witch hunt went south on him. Beck has an addictive personality (from what I have read of his history) and suicides in his family. When this sideshow of his unravels he will do himself in. To see him self destruct will be fun to watch, that he may commit suicide will not. It's sad. He needs therapy. I'm not being sarcastic. He is clearly not stable.

If Glenn Beck is right about inflation (highly likely actually), then he should be encouraging people to invest in gold AND silver AND platinum AND palladium. To market exclusively the gold, and to have such a conflict of interest with a sponsor, makes me think there's more to this than the "public interest".
Investing in gold, and especially gold coins (Krueggerands, St. Gaudens, etc.), CAN be a good inflation hedge strategy, but it isn't as simple as "go out and buy Goldline's crap and you're home free".
You do know Goldline sells those coins, right. You also know they sell, silver, platinum and palladium. You remind me of the Democrats who don't like the AZ bill and have not even read it. Too funny.

Glenn Beck is nowhere near correct. His overall message is solely to deflect blame away from the Republican leadership (malfeasance) that culminated with our country's economic collapse, starting in March 2007 with the sub-prime market crash. He spins and twists his listener's /viewers perspectives, telling them what they "want" to hear, caring less about what they should be hearing. All of this big government, less regulation, "the socialist are coming" cry's, is nothing more that irresponsible republican propaganda.

He said that no other President had never been sworn into office without a Bible. He said he 'checked'. He either did not check or checked up his arsegraped butt because he's lying. John Qunicy Adams used a law book. Franklin Pierce didn't even swear. He affirmed. Teddy Roosevelt used no Bible. Several Presidents kissed a Bible but did not swear on one.
Glenn Beck lied when he said recently that $1.4 million of stimulus momey was used to repair a door at Dyess AFB. The doors repaired were aircraft hangar doors and the cost was not $1.4 million. The cost was $246000 out of $1.4 million in repairs funding.
