I work on Bourbon street and no one really expected any money out of the convention. Conservatives and republicans are notoriously bad tippers if they tip at all. They all stayed with the buses (no taxis for them ) and the free catered food and drinks. If it wasn't for the news ,we would not have known they were there.

Wouldn't they be better off constructing houses in New Orleans, instead of running for them with no clue of what to do once they get in them?

I would imagine that Senator David Vitter (R-LA) could give them quite a guided tour of Bourbon St. Or maybe it's just the brothels in D.C. he's so familiar with. What a bunch of phonies these people are!

raydernation: explain to me how you can have a surplus when there was still a deficit. Did that "3 trillion" go to pay of it???

The surplus left by the Clinton administration was blown on making war on the wrong country and giving a HUGE tax reduction to the RICH.
NOW we have a deficit.
Understand now?

So why wait to say this for 8 years?

it looks bad to not raise this point under Mr. Bush, but then become so enthusiastic about it once an African American is elected POTUS.

MiddleClassWorker says:
Republicans under Bush were responsible for the largest growth of government since FDR. And they blew the balanced budget that Clinton handed them at the end of his term. So how does that qualify them as financial experts or small government advocates?

Actually they blew a $3 trillion surplus that President Clinton handed them. And left Obama a multi trillion surplus. They looted this country.

Actually

If SSI would have called in the IOU's from Clinton, there wouldn't have been a surplus. Bush would have wound up with a deficit. How could Clinton hand over a balanced budget with all those IOU's outstanding? I guess those are all forgotten about now and will never be repaid.
