if the health care reform is so wonderful and great, then why don't the President & Congress & the Senate, etc want THEIR families covered the same way they approved for the 16 million people who will have to try to get medical treatment?

Why would they vote to exempt themselves from ANY law they shove down our throats? Are they better than us "commoners"? Are their children more important than yours or mine?

If it's so good for us....why is it not good for them?

im so sick of all the bull. the problem is the doctors are charging too much for there services. ill tell you about my friend, he had to have a plate and a couple screws in his neck the procedure took 1 hour. do you know how much just the surgeon made? just the surgeon now, and it does not include anesthesiologist, room, nurses or any equipment, supplies and a 8 hour recovery stay all that stuff had its own bill. all that was over a $100,000 but lets get back to the surgeon, the surgeon bill for one hour was $27,000. im sorry, but no man is worth $27,000 an hour. so the insurance company is putting out over $100,000 for just 9 hours of attention to one man. this is where the problem lies. then the insurance company has to pass that on to us people that want medical insurance. this is the kind of stuff that makes medical insurance outrageous. so people lets get to the root of the problem and fix what is broken, not pass a bill thats going to kill what little economy we have. thats just stupid.

It's not going to kill the economy. You are talking details my friend. The problem is a series of interconnected ties/issues (otherwise problem square rooted to ##degree). There is so much corruption and abusive business practices going on throughout the INSURANCE, DRUG/PHARMACEUTICAL, HOSPITAL, PHYSICIAN, MALPRACTICE LAWYERS, and even the food industry.

This reform allows us to now take a closer look at our nation's healthcare system, OPEN OUR EYES to it's injustices and failings, shed light on the malpractices (and anticipate possible future ones) of insurance companies (those offering healthcare coverage and those offering malpractice coverage), drug companies, hospitals, physician's offices, malpractice lawyers, food industry too... there is much corruption and bad businesses to be seen and it's about time it gets regulated because they've shown no mercy to the people's best interests, no mercy to the sick, no mercy to the innocent children... they've violated our trust, our health, our rights... they've put MONEY BEFORE PEOPLE/LIVES and that they've shown that there's no limit to GREED.

This reform now allows us to debate as a nation, unite as a nation (whether we're for it or not) for the sake of SAVING LIVES, get on to MORE REFORM and on a path to universal healthcare in America.

This is just a START and it's a start for a path to so much good.

Plus, the investment in our health is an investment for survival, for happiness, for our moral conscious, for the future professionals who will contribute to the nation's economy.

Listen to what one of the founding fathers thinks about an over-reaching, unconstitutional government - just like the one we have right now:

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. -- Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. -- Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government. -- Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. -- Thomas Jefferson

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe. -- Thomas Jefferson

You Liberal fools really think you are smarter that Thomas Jefferson?

When the second American revolution against tyranny begins - your false ideology will be the first casualty.

This health care reform is not really health care reform, its insurance reform. It does really nothing to cover the astronomical prices of health care. In December on a sunday night my wife cut her hand open while trimming a ham. She had no choice but to go to the emergency room. That visit ended up in 7 stitches and $1200.00. In Deember i also had to spend 9 days in the hospital. That stay cost $96,000 just for the bed. Every single nurse also charged around $700 each for the 12 hours they was assigned to me. Every aide also charged. The $96,000 was just for the room. My family doctor charged $125 just for asking me every day how I was doing and any questions I had he told me I needed to discuss with my surgeon.
To provide actual health care reform would be very easy. Put the health care industry under their own tax structure. Our elected officials can work with people to find what a fair charge would be to americans for services and force the health care industry to bring their rates in line with what americans can afford or have them taxed at a tax rate of %50 of which this tax money would go torward individuals who cant afford health care. The health care providers who do bring their prices in line would get a tax break that would be near a no tax cost.
Yet a plan like this would never happen because too many politicians make big bucks from the health care industry.

If we "LOSE our Great Doctors" with this bill, then they are not great doctors.
"To little pay, for to much work." - You can't be serious. You probably think lawyers are underpaid as well.... Maybe if you held a minimum wage job you'd understand.

Any doctor who went into the medical field to make money rather than to save lives is not a "great doctor."

what are you talking about? america has always payed the most for its health care services/insurance. but only ranked 37th overall for that amount. really are the doctors going to reduce there fee's doubt it. as far as paying for an education. so do other people. part of getting a profession. if you look at the bill. there is a provision for education in it. the debt can be attributted to other factors also. unfunded war in iraq 1 trillion, tax cuts for the wealthy under bush can account for up to 4 trillion, medicare part d 300 billion more. lets go back to regan and his tax cuts makes anothe 4-8 trillion loss in gov revenues. total comes close to the 12 trillion were in debt.

Doctors get paid a lot because they go through years of intense (and expensive) school, have one of the only jobs where people's lives depend on them, and work long hours. They deserve their compensation. I don't know any doctor who would go through all of that hard work and trouble 'just' for the money. That being said, I also don't know anyone who would pay for all that med school and work in one of the most stressful environments out there for a low salary. We need to keep paying our doctors what they deserve so we can continue to keep the best and the brightest in the field. Just like teaching - if they paid us more and made it harder to become one, maybe we'd have better teachers and a better educational system!
