Now, the Massachusetts bill is very much like the Obama bill. Health care costs have risen 40% in one year, that's above the national average. Medical costs to the state plan are 5 BILLION over budget.
Many people cannot afford the mandated insurance so they pay the fine and STILL are covered by Mass Health if they need a knee replacement or have a heart attack.
Estimates are that 75% of the people in the emergency rooms are Illegal immigrants who although they could not be turned away from an emergency room before the bill are now given all the procedures and long term care allocated to Mass. citizens. and by the way. Did you know that Mexico has national health care?
and best of all, the insurance companies have raised their rates 40%
Blue Cross in Mass had record losses this quarter in spite of that. Thinking about going bankrupt.
NOW THAT IS CHANGE. HOW DO YOU THINK YOU'LL LIKE IT ON A LARGER SCALE?

What is absolutely amazing to me is the ignorance of politicians knowledge on the subject of business and capitalism. America was founded on capitalism, freedom, and opportunity. Pelosi is the epitome of ignorance, especially with her comment that the new bill would "...unleash "entrepreneurial power" in the economy because it meant people could change jobs or start a small business without risking their health insurance." Well, I gotta tell you, I'm a business owner with a seven restaurant franchise. I have always offered all of my employees health insurance, plus many other financial benefits, and have always rewarded my best performers with bonuses and incentives unheard of in my industry. I bought the land for another store, a store that has been highly anticipated by the community (and, might I add, the JOBLESS in the community). This health care bill has only served to delay my plans for building this store for an undetermined amount of time. It is very unfortunate, because it would have brought jobs to a community that needed jobs and brought more opportunities for those looking to pursue them.

I say, thanks, Obama. The transition to socialism is well on its way.

You are the exception. Most restaurants don't provide benefits. If anything, the bill will reduce your costs due to the small business rebates. You are delaying your plans (without reason), not the bill.

Your comment "Shame on you" should resound in your ears. SHAME ON YOU for not thinking about the tremendous needs in our country. Your health care coverage is the best...........what about those of us who are unemployed or work in minimum wage jobs. We've had none. You sit in your ivory tower, take "bonuses" from the insurance companies and enjoy the finer life. You haven't had our interests or concerns in mind. SHAME ON YOU!

How does it cost a TRILLION dollars to insure 10% of the American population?
Estimates are the 15 million of the uninsured are young people who choose not to buy insurance.
HOW DOES IT COST A TRILLION DOLLARS ???
WealthSaver replies:

Exactly. Funny how all these supposed capitalists talk only about program costs while ignoring the costs of doing nothing and the benefits of doing something. Every decision involves costs . . . and benefits!
It will cost far more to continue with the status quo than it will to implement this bill. The best solution would have been to approve a bill that simply said, "Every American, regardless of age, shall be permitted to enroll in Medicare at their option and at cost". Who needs 2400 pages??

No, the $money will continue to roll in for the GOP as they attempt to run on a REPEAL of Healthcare Insurance Coverage for Americans.

Obama made the insurance companies the winners. Few restrictions on their operations and 30 million more customers. The restrictions were stripped. No price restrictions on pharmaceutical companies. Republicans wanted to break the monopolies forcing competition. This would have resulted in downward pressure on pricing.

We all know that this fight by the party of NO wasn't about health care, it was about damaging the president and trying to get back into the majority. No it isn't a perfect bill, none rarely are. But for sure it is a whole lot better than what we were currently stuck with in this country. It isn't over yet, more stalling tactics etc. but lets hope we finally get something for the people who don't have insurance.

The only reason Boner has a "sad and heavy heart" is because he won't be getting anymore kickbacks from insurance company lobbyists. Boner needs to shut up now and accept the fact that he won't be making much money now and won't get re-elected to another term. How sad for him indeed. *snicker*
