Based on these facts, the more I believe that the current offensive must be changed. Change the strategies on the War in Afghanistan. Reduce the offensive down to 30% - that would mean greater safety for our troops, save billions of dollars. Let the CIA pick up the other 70% using new intelligence strategies that would enable the U.S. to control the organization of the enemy. I wrote this to CIA Dir. Panetta, David Axelrod and Gen. James L. Jones, Jr., USMC (Ret.). All it takes is a one-day presentation - so much for the U.S. to gain and nothing to loose.

"Lara Logan Explains Several Key Factors She Says Are Being Overlooked in U.S. War Strategy"

I think we should put General Logan in charge of all the allied troops in Afghanistan don't you? When will we learn that reporters know it all and the rest of us are stupid? Hey Lara, why don't you do your job without my guys going with you everywhere and being your personal US tax paid bodyguards?
Let's see how long you last without US troops protecting you Ms. Know It All.
Besides, it is all a joke, Logan has never been in a situation where she was in any real danger. The cameras and everything else is staged to make it look like she is some fearless warrior.
Go home Lara, before you get one of our men killed for your paycheck.

zonkzilla - Before America invaded Afghanistan, Lara Logan could have travelled very safely there (if she was dressed according to local custom) as hundreds of aid workers did before they were forced to leave by the American invasion.

Why is it now so unsafe that she needs armed bodyguards? It must be because America has improved security for women!!!!!

Well, my impression is that, Lara has given us a good synopsis of the situation and anyone who is honest fully knows that we should NOT be there nor in Iraq. Supposing a foreign country had invaded the US to change our gun-happy mentality? What if they had sent over troops, say to free the slaves, stop the lynching and other atrocities in the hateful south. What about the horrendous treatment of workers, strikers and resistance to the robber barons in the 19th century? How many of our own Americans have died violent deaths because of greed? How is it that we have so many young black men in prison, so many industries and pharmaceutical companies polluting and "legally" contaminating poor people in numerous countries? This is to say that we have no moral lessons to give to any other country or people. And as for respecting women, just read through the machist remarks in many of the afore commentaries. True, the Talibans cover their women in shrouds, but America puts them up on public billboards nude and in humiliating positions. Both are detestable. All in all, I think WE are still a long way from being civilized and morally irreproachable so let's get the US in order and let other countries grow into their own new attitudes and deveopment. They will, eventually, find their equilibrium.

For someone who claims an intellectual appreciation of the situation she might have tried to have some cultural appreciation, and dressed more modestly in an Islamic country. Or is this a modern variant of sending over Playboy babes to jolly up the troops?

She has no appreciation of the situation in Afghanistan, intellectual or otherwise. She's only interested in her profile back home............. and it's working brilliantly, just look at the responses from the typical American morons on here!

Most Afghan's are savages. Like our own Indian wars, we need to kill most of them to get their attention, and put those who don't want to assimilate onto reservations. Do that, and the war will be over in less than 10 years.

Sadly, millions of Americans think exactly the same as you. However, there is a major difference between your Afghanistan war and the Indian wars...... you haven't won a war for a generation or more now, and you don't have the slightest chance of winning this one!

Are you trying to be funny? You lost in Vietnam, you did sweet FA in Bosnia, you've been kicked out of Iraq, you're getting nowhere in Afghanistan and you're scared sh*tless of tackling Iran or North Korea! Where's Bin Laden after all your pathetic promises??? American foreign policy is a sick joke.

It doesn't matter whether you win or lose. War is merely a means to an end. Sometimes just wearing the other side out is good enough. All young men want to become warriors. Some make the grade, many don't. "One hundred men will test today, but only three win the green beret."

I met a Talib Green Beret the other day (my personal enemy). He fought until captured, and he was brave right up to the point where my Beretta spilled his brains. I wear his ears proudly. They too only have 3 in 100 warriors who are worth the oxygen they breath. Sadly, America and NATO keep sending us rear echelon types, and they die like flies stepping on land-mines even a donkey knows to miss.

edgy44 lectures everybody, but can't even write standard English. To brag so vociferously, he must suffer from deep inferiority complexes.

If only edgy44's problems were purely his use of English. He is having fantasies about blowing people's brains out with a pistol! He is a disturbed and possibly dangerous person. Sometime we may be reading about a serial killer who posted on the web using the name "edgy44". Scary thought eh? How about you edgy44, what do you think?
