- The whole "anti-war, I'll get us out of the war, our guys are just air-raiding villages" candidate is now the pro-war president and is using Bush's strategy. Maybe Obusha is an appropriate name.

- Kimberly Dozier writes an irresponsible, illogical and ridiculous article. The Afghan war was going on when his presidency began, this is where the efforts SHOULD have been focused, not Iraq.
Most importantly, PRESIDENT Obama reacting to very specific threat to the US, those who are actively seeking to target harm our citizens. There are very specific threats to the US.
Then you have ARMCHAIR so called "analyst" who are saying its Obama's war;
Hmmmm. Ms Dozier, are you privy to all of the facts or all you taking bits and pieces to try and write an article to further your flagging career.
So what do you think the PRESIDENT Obama should do? Nothing? - Reply to this comment

- The war is there simply because of the origin of Al Quaeda and the environment the Taliban promoted to the people without considering the consequences of allowing extra-territorial jihadist' operations against the West. It NEVER moved into Iraq because then Saddam Hussein would have had difficulty controlling or even allowing such extremism to operate in his autocratic dictatorship. Bush MISSED two opportunities to bind a Middle East Peace in his eagerness to connect 9/11 to Iraq and ignore the relocation of the Taliban and Al Quaeda to other localities to rebuild.
We have drained our resources in this misdirected endeavor, the first clue being the first "stimulus checks' issued to the public to give the economy a jolt....to the last big JOLT of BUYING 350 billion in stocks in these companies with no requirements tied to the assets that have been the culprit of their dealings. We are left with a legacy of mistrust and misdeeds that include war crimes by the Bush Administration...and a weakened Obama Administration that has to deal with the fallout of political alienation by our allies, pay for a war and end it, and lastly stimulate the economy such that people have jobs....
TOO MANY BACKSEAT DRIVERS NOW.....where were they two years ago when BUSH was driving the economy and the war into the dirt...??? Those same people should be clamoring for Bush to be tried for any of a number of 'high crimes and misdemeanors' and are instead belaboring the Obama Administration for even TRYING to unf*ck the situations and policies the Bush Administration promoted. - Reply to this comment
- I think it's America's war. And it's the same war that we initiated after 9/11 as a consequence of those attacks on 3,000 Americans who were just going about their daily round. And the focus over the last seven years I think has been lost.
The above is a response given to Scheiffer during an interview on Face the Nation.
I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure there were citizens of other countries in the Trade Center on 911. Correct me if I am wrong.

- This war is still Bush's war. If he had not shifted his attention and resources to Iraq prematurely, we would bemuch closer to a solution. The Taliban would not have been able to regroup inside the country, more might have been done with the Pakistani government to clear Taliban sympathizers out of the intel services and establish control in the border areas, and the building of the Afghan infrastructure would be more advanced.
Afghanistan, like Iraq, is full of missed opportunities. Obama is responsible for the effectiveness of his actions, but the impact of the Bush/Cheney ineptness will remain a component of the situation for a couple of years at least. - Reply to this comment
- The media declares it to be Obama's War. What a news flash. How did he get this war declared? Didn't he use the same executive powers Bush gave the presidency? Isn't it fabulous that an elected representative can go in and declare war without support of the people. Yeah, this is real change from Bush. How can Americans justify their votes anymore? He who promises everything presents you with nothing! The press followed the tide of marketing and this is the change you have. This is the time for all Americans to start looking past the presentation and into the package. I am refering to all representations, bait and switch laws, and powers going to the Federal government. It is time to support all governors that step back from Federal Control and try to retain the concept of a United STATES.

- New boss same as old boss. More war without end. Failure keeps getting rewarded and nothing changes. The whole thing is stupid.

- The only thing everyone seems to agree on is that this is now "Mr. Obama's war."
He says it's "America's war," but we in the media have anointed it otherwise. He owns it.
-------------------------------------------------
In the minds of all Americans, this is now Obama's war, If he does what LBJ and Bush did, the Afrans war will define his Presidency. If he just kills/apprehends OBL, and then exits, it will not define his Presidency. No amount of charima can change this.
One thought - if the Afrans war is so important to all free people including the EU, why are they not contributing more resources then they are now? - Reply to this comment
- When we first went into Afghanistan it was because we had rouge CIA operatives that had turned against the US and had attacked the World Trade Center in New York. As it was George Bush Snr as head of the CIA that had set up these Taliban Mujahideen operatives in the first place, George Bush Jnr was well placed to know who they were and go in and take them out. However we can now see that this was all just a pretext to capture and colonise a key geographic area in Euro-Asia.

- It is all well and good that we are restarting the old John Kennedy Peace Corps concept in Afghanistan, like we should have been doing in Viet Nam. But the objective of the Viet Nam campaign was to claim territory and to rule over people in South East Asia. This seems to indicate that we are morphing the objectives of the Afghanistan campaign from a police action to take out perpetrators involved in 8-11, to that of taking over the territory and people of the Afghanistan Euro-Asia region. We went in under the pretext of capturing our old Taliban Mujahideen operatives, such as Osama bin Laden, and now we are talking about owning the entire population, oil pipelines and copper mines in the region. The objectives as spelled out in this new proposal are to control the national economy of the country and region. The American people are being lied to and mislead. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
