Cheapest journalistic trick in the the syllabus. When all is going well, pose the ominous question about a possibility into which you have no insight!

They won the World Series but the big question is will they repeat?

They tore down the Berlin wall but will they be able to solve the problem of poverty in East Germany?

Sure he finished Anna Karenina and War and Peace but does he really have another novel in him?

Creating anxiety from possibility. Don''t you find it a lousy way to make a living?

He parted the waters but does anyone really believe Moses can do it twice?

It has become hard to breath with all the oxygen consumed by media/blogger Obama zealots and the ozone caused by thrills running up commentators legs. He''s a Socialist. Get over it.

With liberals like you guys it is easy to see that not too long from now the US will fade from greatness just like Europe did. You are supposedly the party of tolerance and caring but you are neither. Liberal speakers at colleges never get shouted down but conservative speakers often do. Liberals think they are smarter but are never in doubt but always in error. The top 10% of workers pay near 70% of taxes but all you can complain about is tax cuts for the rich - liberal care but they care with other people''s money. Liberal give much less to charity because they figure it it the governments job. This whole economic mess started with the democrat program to give home loans to losers. And they Fannie and Freddie paid them off - Barney and buddies - who said everything was ok at the banks. Good luck with your giant spending program, your giant tax program, your *** scandals, your support of laywers that make nothing - you will suffer from your own ideas - and the people who build things and make things will have moved on to other, free-er countries. You got it all now: the the government, the media, the laywers, the unions, the illegals, everything. Have at it, give us some of those great California, New York and Illinois ideas. Jimmy Carter II here we come.

declanm said: "Bush didn''t "double the national debt" -- Congress did with bipartisan enthusiasm."

Its amazing to see how much responsibility for ''walking the talk'' you are laying on Obama, yet, for all the world, NOTHING Bush did made any difference!!! Make up your mind about the power of the executive.

Bush and a clear Republican Congressional majority led the effort to cut taxes, but not government spending, apparently unaware that this would double the national debt just 10 years from the first of the Baby Boomer retirements. Now, we''re the epicenter of a global credit crisis and, coincidently, our government is broke. This was irresponsible and to blame BIPARTISAN approval of such a debt expansion is a rewrite of history.

Thanks, folks, for your responses. Some replies:

ubrew12: Bush didn''t "double the national debt" -- Congress did with bipartisan enthusiasm. It''s time for you to break out your copy of the Constitution for some remedial civics lessons: Bush may have asked for the cash, but the buck stops with Congress.

Binismom: You say that I''m "bias[ed]" because I said soon we''ll see if Obama''s actions live up to his rhetoric. This is a column. You do know that columnists are supposed to have a point of view, right?

inketolstoy: You''re right that no president is "responsible" for the state of the economy. But government policies, writ large, can have good and bad economic effects.

About 100 million contemptible, disrespectful, tasteless, childish and ignorant Americans were booing along with the 3 million Americans there.

I can''t believe the ignorant, childish, contemptible mainstream media tried to cover up the truth about that dispicable, trashy war criminal Bush. He actually deserved lynching.

Of course the right wing war-profiteering media is all about cover-up and protecting these GOP criminals.

nomoredems

Thank you for posting. Awhile back there was a study that stated that those who support Bush were more likely to be less educated. I always wanted to see some kind of example of that. Thanks.

PS: Take an english class.

For the last 8 years we tried an illiterate, selfish, myopic, partisan imbecile and you see where that got us. Why not try someone with a brain for a change?

"I''''m very concerned we have someone with this much power and money yet she doesn''''t have the judgement to see a plastic surgeon to get some corrections.
I''''m serious, I want an answer."

Do you REALLY want an answer? OK. First, my guess is that you''re a gay man. Not that I have anything against homosexuals, but are they really the ones to comment on female beauty?
On second thought, I know many gay men in the beauty industry that are quite talented in the art of making women beautiful.

I guess the answer must be that you''re an idiot. Michelle Obama is hot and far more woman than you could ever hope to be in the company of.

Loser.
