I''''m sure that the close to 100,000 British who left Britain last year for health care was because they couldn''''t stand that they got such great healthcare for free and felt obligated to fly out of the country and pay on their own.

Britain is not the best example of UHC. They''re very different in different countries. Of course, detractors can always find horror stories anywhere to use as anecdotal evidence. I have relatives in France who have no problem whatsoever there. In fact, France is rated #1 in the world in health care. Try doing some research on it.

No to the car companies. They don''t need to stay open. Close them all down. They make junk. They have the scum UAW doing the junk work on the cars. It take ten of the UAW people to do the work of one. Down with the UAW and the car companies. No bailout.

This government is totally corrupted, especially the ones that voted for the bail out.

--- First, any loan or bailout should include a restructuring of the entire automotive industry with the expulsion of the union. ---

MikeInMI1..... Unions are not the problem here, the problem is Corporate Greed, plain and simple.

If if were not for the brave men who gave their lives to organize, YOU would not be making the salary you are making today.

Unions are what protect working men and women from Corporations who pay their CEO''s and shareholders ridiculous sums of money with out any regard for the workers who make the products.

Also, let''s not for get that we are the only industrialized country that doesn''t have national run healthcare. Imagine how much operating capital the big three would have if they wern''t going broke paying for employee and retiree healthcare.

The corporate America answer of pushing the cost burdon on to the working class is NOT the answer.

Know what''s going to save GM and other American corporations? No, not the bailout. It''s UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, like what all other CAPITALIST countries have.

This crooked American government has been take over by war profiteers, oil companies who start wars and kill out kids and huge right wing fascist companies like Wal-Mart. We going to bail out anti-American traitors who have been undermining unions and outsourcing jobs? "Free Trade" is free for the rich socialists while we pay the criminals.

Whilst I find the concept of a bailout for the Big-3 verry difficult to swallow, I do not believe we can just let them go to bankruptcy knowing the downstream job impact that would result. Any bailout should have very clear terms requiring fundamental change in both management and labor relations. Management should not receive 1 cent of bonus, incentive or pay increase until the government is paid off in full. The Unions must be required to start from a zero-based position (with wages, health care, pensions and other benefits scaled back to more reasonable levels)and with strikes forbidden until payback is complete. There should be no free ride for anyone receiving money from the bailout. This includes government lobbying being forbidden also. I realize that this would be a tough pill to swallow but these are tough times and things for both this generation and our children will not be better without fundamental change.

This is way deeper than a few stupid rich CEOs. Our entire system of laisse faire capitalism is a failure. The sooner We the People take back out government from the corporate fascists, the better we off we will be. We need RADICAL change to the system.
