Comments on: CBS Poll: Obama Has Edge In Final Debate
By Large Margin, Uncommitted Voters Say Democrat Won The Last Debate Before The Election
- Joe the Plumber is not even a real plumber. He has no plumber''s license and neither does the company he claims to work for and claims he hopes to buy. He thinks he doesn''t need a license even though the local government says he does and the company he works for does. As usual, McCain unleashes the attack dogs before he checks his facts as far as what he is claiming!

- I was in hopes that in this debate there would FINALLY be a balance struck on who got in the last word on each question. Alas, by my memory, except for the final words (no rebuttals allowed), Senator McCain was given the final comment on all but one question posed. This overload was also true in the first debate.

- Another thing, stop worrying about Obama''s background. For those of you worried that he would sell America out, TOO LATE---REGAN ALREADY DID THAT!!

- Does McInsane and Palyin only have one friend? The guy named Joe they keep referring to. What is a Joe Six Pack and who cares about the loser plumber who whines because he doesn''t have $$$ to buy a business. Get a loan like the rest of us did when we purchased our businesses!

- McCain was grumpy, erratic, angry, writing frantically, raising his pointed eyebrows, smirking, showing his yellow teeth while clenching his jaw, impolite, interrupting, not answering the questions asked. His too much make-up looked like it was starting to melt. And he appeared constipated! He looked like an angry snowman who was starting to melt from his hot temper and low poll numbers. And who would vote for him after the terrible judgment in picking Sarah Airhead Unethical Lying Palyin.

- I have one question. How does a country pay back a half trillion dollar debt, owed to China, without raising taxes? McCain isn''t going to raise taxes because he has already stated that he would support the tax package that Bush has already put into motion. America needs to be more realistic about the situation we are in. This country''s citizens pay some of the highest taxes and reap the least benefits. Obama is talking about trying to take care of America like the government is obligated to do.

- ''''Joe the plumber'''' + hockey moms are hardly a majority in US today.
McCain preached to his coir described above but failed to address the regular folks like me.
By the way, statistical data shows that the average plumber makes less than 45K/year, well below the 250K tax bracket.

Dan Satterberg, the Republican prosecuting attorney in King County, Wash., where the first ACORN case was prosecuted, said:
Satterberg: [A] joint federal and state investigation has determined that this
scheme was not intended to permit illegal voting.
Instead, the defendants cheated their employer. ... It was hardly a sophisticated plan: The defendants simply realized that making up names was easier than actually canvassing the streets looking for unregistered voters. ...
[It] appears that the employees of ACORN were not performing the work that they were being paid for, and to some extent, ACORN is a victim of employee theft.
The $8-an-hour employees were charged with providing false information on a voter registration, and in one case with making a false statement to a public official. ACORN was fined for showing insufficient oversight, but it was not charged with masterminding any kind of fraud.

- This is scary US citizens. I am curious as to why Obama''s background is not a major issue in this debate. Are people ignoring the facts about who he keeps friends with as stated by McCain in last night''s debate? When you apply for a position, aren''t employers doing background checks on you before offering you a position? I wonder why that is.... This is America people...wake up and smell the roses.

I think you are giving way to much credit to wntrpls.
I think he/she is just a republiCON idiot...straight & simple.
Striaght party line...no matter about the facts. - Reply to this comment
- The problem with people like wntrpls is that they usually do their "research" by listening to someone like Fox News, and they believe it all as gospel, instead of the spin it really is. Read FactCheck.org to at least get some objectivity and accuracy. You ignorant people (like wntrpls) try my patience.

- Frankly, I think that polite Democrats give McCain waaaay too much credit for his "heroic past". The man has been a standing joke here in AZ for years... and has held on mostly due to the usual incumbent''s edge, and the knee-jerk straight ticket voting of the Republican majority.
His judgment is questionable, and getting worse. He''s impulsive, temperamental, and obviously doesn''t handle stress well... and he''s 72. His choice for a vice-president is a joke, a failed attempt to woo disgruntled Clinton supporters, and a perfect example of his inability to think ahead.
I won''t even go into the so-called "war hero" ***, it would take too long. Suffice it to say that many, many of us veterans do NOT consider him a hero of any sort. "Singing Johnny" is the name most associated with his Hanoi years....
And the shoddy way he treated his first wife, in order to woo and wed his career-financing beer heiress, is about as shameful as a "family values" candidate can get.
The fact that a man with a known history of adultery, and frolicking on yachts provided by criminals like Charles Keating, would have the temerity to harass Obama for "past associations" (let alone judgment) only proves how hypocritical and desperate McCain and the Republicans have gotten. Barry Goldwater must be spinning in the grave%u2026. - Reply to this comment
- A bitter McCain tried for one last, desperate attempt to gain ground by going negative last night. McCain went from "Straight Talk" to "Hate Talk" and then tried to justify it by claiming that it''s excusable because Obama wouldn''t hold town hall meetings with him earlier in the campaign. Sorry McCain your negativity and rationalizations cost you the debate and perhaps the election itself.

- If you eliminate McCain''s book royalty income ($176,508) he''d get a tax cut under Obama''s plan for 2007.

McCain would get a tax cut under Obama''s plan.
In 2006 Senator McCain paid $72,771 in federal income, alternative minimum, and self-employment taxes (LINES 57 and 58) on taxable income of $215,304 (LINE 43), which is a 33.8% tax rate. View - Reply to this comment

- I came across a Bio on John McCain written by Tim Dickinson, "Make-Believe Maverick." The ten page bio is a real eye opener and anyone who is considering voting in this Presidential election should read this first. Go to www.rollingstone.com and look for article. It changed my opinion of McCain. Here''s a sample. When McCain was incarcerated in the Hanoi Hilton as a POW, he let his captives know that he was the son of a navy admiral so he would survive. So much for guts and glory.
