CBSNews.com Analysis: Alaska Governor Turns In Strong Performance After Shaky Weeks But Biden, Democrats Retain Edge
- Palin may have said she wouldn''t answer the questions, but it wasn''t until well after she stopped answering them. She may have kept it together although I distinctly saw the "moose in the headlights" look more than a few times. But honestly, conversant? With her "g" dropping, Joe six pack, "you betcha, honey", bull ***, you call that conversant? Maybe in the back end of a truck. In real life it''s simply poor English, not conversant by any stretch of the imagination.

- What is wrong with everyone?
Hello! The emperor is wearing no clothes! Sarah Palin is a dummy! She didn''t win anything.
Hey pundits! Stop over-analyzing! It looks like most Americans have just figured it out without the blah blah blah.
We don''t need the false constructed "balance". It''s OK to just report the truth as is. Try it, you''ll feel better. Just say that Sarah Palin helps calm the far right fundamentalists that didn''t like McCain, but everyone else understands that she is not very bright. By picking her, McCain displayed desperation. It probably won''t work. You don''t have to blather on any further. There is other important news to cover. - Reply to this comment

Wow. That''s a broad absolute statement, yea?
Let me clue you in, since you''re a bit sluggish in the ol''noggin yourself.
I''m a progressive.
uhbama voted for the retro-FISA immunity bill. The same one that gave the shrub coverage.
uhbama voted for *** cheney''s energy bill. McCain and Hillary did not.
uhbama voted for the bridge to nowhere. So did Biden. Three times.
uhbama wouldn''t have his picture taken with Gavin Newsome after he announced gay marriage in San Fran. uhbama toured with donnie mcclurkin; the hypocrite "ex-gay" pastor; strongly anti-gay. Nice message, huh? uhbama hasn''t met even once with the gay democratic group.
uhbama says he''s for "open drilling".
Is uhbama a democrat or a republican?
McCain crossed the isle 25% of the time; uhbama, 3%.
Which one will is good at "uniting" people for change?
uhbama can''t even unite his own d*mn political party.
uhbama USED RACE AS A DIVISIVE TOOL TO GAIN VOTES AND SLAM THE ONLY 2 term DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT and his wife in 40 years.
NOBAMA! PUMA!!!!
And yea, I voted for McCain/Palin in Ohio on Tuesday.
It felt GOOOOD. - Reply to this comment
- It bugs me that, like Bush, Palin can''t pronounce "nuclear." Is that a Republican thing?

- That was all the GOP could ask for? They couldn''t ask for someone who actually could answer the questions? They couldn''t ask for someone who could speak knowledgably on more that memorized talking points? That is all they could ask for? I think you mean, that this is all they could ask for since they were stupid enough to put Palin on the ticket. You get what you pay for.

- For those of you that keep saying she didn''t answer all the questions. Lets look at something first she stated up front she was not going to answer the questions the way that the press wanted her too. Thats good shows she will not bow down to them. Next and the biggest thing, she came a lot closer to answering the questions than Obama ever has about his assocciations with shady charters. He keeps saying not the person I knew, give me and America a break. They are exactly the people he knew but he is being allowed to get away with this. So those complaining about Palin, when he answers these questions then you have a right, until then hope that he is not forced to if he is it is good bye to the ''CHOSEN ONE'' Obama.

- I think Sarah Palin did a powerful job in the debate. She is knowledgeable, articulate and direct.

She didn''t answer half of the questions directed at her. hahahahaha
...but then again, you like people like that, don''t you. - Reply to this comment
- Here is a question for you? Do we REALLY want another vice president put in charge of energy policy who has a vested interest in oil/gas prices increasing? All of Palins friends are in Alaska and they get direct payments from Alaska that increase when the price of oil increases.
That sounds like what we had in 2000 with *** Cheney being put in charge of energy policy at a time gas was at $1.50/gallon. All of his buddies are benefiting today with gas at $4/gal. With four years and Palin in charge will we be looking at $10/gal gas?
Have you seen anything that would you cause you to doubt that she would put country ahead of her friends in Alaska? - Reply to this comment
- Palin''s winks were annoying to me and inappropriate. If it''s anything, it''s not presidential. Our country is in serious crisis. Her winks made the debate like anything but serious. Can you go to an interview, winking to your interviewer???

- "And that%u2019s the major reason Biden walked away with the edge in this debate. He showed much more mastery on the issues"
Since when did being a convincing, bold-face liar equate to mastery of the issues? - Reply to this comment
- To Katie Couric et al at CBS news. The reason our founding fathers put Freedom of the Press into our constitution was to WATCHDOG the government. Any journalist that lets their own political views seep into their reporting is undermining that freedom. Whoever we choose to be the highest in our land, we the people deserve to have interviewed by the highest in the land. And sadly, that is not CBS or Katie.

- The hatred and anger I see from the left side of the aisle defies description. I could go ballistic about Joe Biden''''s 14 or so factual errors/lies and his condescendsion, but I don''''t think it is necessary to do so.

They think the last two elections were stolen from them and for a time thought this one was slipping away from them, and still could, but it was suppose to be a slam dunk for them this year and they are just a little nervous. - Reply to this comment
- I think Sarah Palin did a powerful job in the debate. She is knowledgeable, articulate and direct. Those of you who are posting your usual hate messages about her I''m sure were hoping she''d trip up. Well, she didn''t. Get over it.

- In honor of Joe Biden''''s planned visit to my High School in Virginia, I have just made a donation to the Obama Biden Campaign.
I am tired of the trickle down policies of Ronald Reagan, and the Bushes, that John McCain would like to carry on. I am tired of the Republican party trying to scare people with the threat of higher taxes. The real picture is that the Republicans have given us record budget deficits. We finally had a budget surplus under Bill Clinton, and now George Bush 2 with the republican congress has obliterated it. I am voting for the change America needs that Obama and Biden will bring us.
I urge others to stand up to the fanatical lies, and hate mongering that the republicans are trying to spread, and find out the truth for yourself. We can see who the real elitists are, the ones with too many houses and cars to keep up with. Virginians, Floridians, and others across this country, it is time to turn our government back into one that actually means something.

- RevOWrightA Since John McCain excluded Sarah Palin from discussions on their campaign activities in Michigan (Sarah said she read about it,) what does that say about his treatment of women not seeking Sarah Palin''s opinion -- does it say he values her opinion? He left her out of that thought process. John McCain''s own Vice Presidential nominee -- not in the inner circle of decision making. Sounds to me like John McCain is still a ranking member of the GOOD OLD BOYS NETWORK -- because he''s still devaluing a women''s opinion -- can''t trust her judgement on important campaigning issues. I call that sexist at its best. And I''m a 63 year old woman who''s had it with fluff ball interviews. Even John McCain doesn''t want to hear what Sarah Palin thinks -- I call that sexist. Does this mean John McCain knows Sarah Palin is an airhead and he doesn''t want to solicit her opinion about the campaign. John McCain is a sexist. Enough fluff balls -- she''s in the majors -- lets throw some hard balls. I would suspect all the networks would do a life - unfiltered interview with Sarah Palin.

- A LOT OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS TOWARD PALIN ARE MEAN AND IGNORANT AND HAVE NO SUBSTANCE. THE MORE IGNORANT COMMENTS FLY AROUND THE MORE OBAMA / BIDEN WILL GET LESS COOPERATION IF THEY WIN. UNLESS THESE PEOPLE JUST WANT THEM IN OFFICE, JUST BECAUSE.
