SESNO: Put at a very high level right out of the box?

KISSINGER: Initially, yes. And I always believed that the best way to begin a negotiation is to tell the other side exactly what you have in mind and what you are -- what the outcome is that you''re trying to achieve so that they have something that they can react to.

Now, the permanent members of the Security Council, plus Japan and Germany, have all said nuclear weapons in Iran are unacceptable. They''ve never explained what they mean by this. So if we go into a negotiation, we ought to have a clear understanding of what is it we''re trying to prevent. What is it going to do if we can''t achieve what we''re talking about?

But I do not believe that we can make conditions for the opening of negotiations. We ought, however, to be very clear about the content of negotiations and work it out with other countries and with our own government.

KISSENGER is trying to backtrack from his support for direct diplomacy with Iran, and many former secretaries of state agree with that position. To my knowledge, and highlevel diplomatic talks between states begin with the secretary of state, so McCain is just splitting hairs.

the pres. may be able to veto, but congress overides the veto. the pres. does not control the country, congress does. the federal government was brought about for security for the country, it was NEVER suppose to run this country, now it does and it has made America, weak, poor and LAZY. this is why other countries don''t like us, we are (were) blessed by God and we have now thrown that back in his face, we will (are) paying for this. Lack of morals, truth and honesty. Wise up and stop voting for a "party" and vote for the individual. even Biden thought and said McCain would be better than Obama. hummmm.

he did not beat his chest about being a POW last night - in fact, it''s been a topic that''s been toned way down - don''t bury the hatchet and leave the handle sticking out - bad form (unless you want all the stuff brought up about BO being Muslim, anti-American etc...and i''m sure people would love to jump back on that bandwagon) it''s emotionally exhaustive to listen to the mud-slinging

Did ANYONE else notice?? Not once did John McCain LOOK at Barack Obama during the whole two hours.
deerxxing

not true - i agree with looking people in the eye defines one''s character, but your statement about ''not once did he look him in the eye'' is not true. not only that, but the camera was often split, candidates were talking to the speaker and it was difficult to see all angles.

How about McCain being the only senator reprimanded in the senate for poor judgement? Its true, look it up. I know why now. His judgement hasn''t gotten any better.

McCain is McBush because did you notice the photo opp when Bush called McCain and Obama to the whitehouse to discuss the economy emergency, Bush had his back to Obama as well. We used to do that when I was a teenager, not a teen, this was in gradeschool, when we girls didn''t like another girl. How juvenile!!! The politics of punishment??? Who caresilf they don''t want to face anyone and negotiate?? Its is a sign of disrespect and a sign of character and maturity. I guess this is why they don''t talk to Spain, N. Korea, or anybody else other than England and Israel and that''s why the rest of the world hates us because of this administratin acting like they are better than everyone else. Unfortunately they do not represent the majority of the American people. We need a change desparately. I still don''t understand, how we are trillions in debt, spending billions on Iraq with no return, spending money to the Sunnis while people on unemployed here and then asking for 700 billion from us on the economy. There is no money. If China decided to pull out and request their money, we would have to sell them Alaska or the empire state building because we have no money??
