Good old BUSH gave in to the scum.

Why are you calling American companies and workers scum? Did you read the article? Do you think if American made cars were no longer available the foreign makers would lower their prices?

GM shutting down the Volt factory is exactly why they are losing. They have no farsighted thinking. They could have been way ahead of the game had they looked long term instead they stubbornly continued down the stupid path and fought tooth and nail to do the right things to make them competetive and truly innovative, thinking the American people would continue to throw their money away buying their products that are worthless in 5 years.

Yeah, but they won''t put that *** Tahoe or Suburban on hold. This volt has been a dangling carrot. Just like Hydrogen cars. It''s a figment of one''s imagination. It was initially to be an all electric vehicle in ''12. then it was a plug-in hybrid in ''10. Now, who knows what it will morph into or when it will come out.

Any chance for Detroit to catch up with the imports on hybrid/electric technology is officially over. Except for a few well-to-do pretenders, nobody is going to spend $40K on a tiny four-seater just so they can save on gas anyway.

This is typical of GM (Detroit) short-sightedness. If anything, they should be moving up the timeframe to get these vehicles out. They also need to seriously address their quality issues. I''ve made every effort to buy American in the past and will continue to do so. But they are just not producing anything that I want at the moment.

For the life of me I just don''t understand why Ford hasn''t already adapted their hybrid technology to the Focus. They should be able to squeeze 50+ mpg and do it for less than the Prius. I would seriously look at something like that.
