CNET's Daniel Terdiman Visits World's First Large-Scale Telescope Meant For The SETI Project
- Man has been around for perhaps 500,000 years, but has only used electromagnetic signals limited by the speed of light for roughly 100 years. No advanced interstellar society would use such signals because they are much too slow. An advanced society would use something like quantum entanglement as a basis for comm systems, which is perhaps a billion times faster than the speed of light and is potentially far more secure and difficult to detect.

- If time had no beginning and the universe
isn''t TEAMING with "life" that should tell
us something about the riggers of
of the place as far as the possibility
or probability of life is concerned.
If time did have a beginning and we have
to search places where it takes light a
thousand years to reach us it''s not all that
much more reassuring. - Reply to this comment
