- As I read this I was reminded of the poem...
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I wasn%u2019t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I wasn%u2019t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

- Gosh, empathy for ***, the disabled, a single mom! How awful! How un-American! And how elitist of Obama! You mean Obama''s not in favor of laws that just hang them or stone them ike they did in the middle ages? Or in Iran? Why, thank you, Sen. Kit Bond for saving us from Obama with his talk about equality and liberty and compassion. Stuff like that would just be the end of life as you know it.
Now, what did Sarah Palin say? Did she cheer you on too? She is SUCH an American patriot too. Betcha she did. - Reply to this comment

- I thought the comments were a satire. But I guess that there is a lot of hate coming from the good Christians who tell us the founding founders built this country on Christian principles. Now, just who was it that wanted us to treat the least among as we would treat each other? Who delivered the sermon on the mount?
And where does the constitution say, "Thou shall not be kind and compassionate."
The argument being made by Bond seems more aligned with the Nurenberg accused who responded with, "I was just following orders."
Solomon tempted the law with mercy and was reknown for his wisdom. Jesus counselled us to love each other. Even the Statue of Liberty invites the tired, the poor, and huddled masses. OOOOOPS! I forgot, the good Christians don''t want any of those foreigners here either. - Reply to this comment
- mibwilso--you left out the "eductaed". At first, it was the "east coast elite" with all their fancy degrees. Then the tide turned and conservative republicans started stating how unqualified Palin is. They called them "intellectual elites".
So no if you are educated, you are out also. - Reply to this comment
- let''s think about this. Are laws not intended to be comapassionate and fair? I do''t recall the Constitution speaking to any treatment different for *** than for straights, or as now amended, any differently to race or gender. The idea that judges should make up what isn''t in the Constitution--overt, legally enforceable discrimination--is a clear violation of the conservative view of the law and the bench. Kit Bond knows better, and should be ashamed of himself.

- tj217,
When did you decide that you are straight? Let me guess, you didn''t.. you are just attracted to the opposite *** right? So do you think you could possibly suppress those feelings and instead have them for the same ***? I''m pretty sure you couldn''t.
