- What Obama actually said:
We need somebody who%u2019s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it%u2019s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it%u2019s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. %u2026 I am absolutely convinced that Culture Wars are just so %u201990s. Their days are growing dark.

- OP1N1CUS--Palin (& McCain)
1. Thinks that if your minor daughter or wife is raped, it would be illegal for them not to keep the child.
2. Plain, Sleeps with successionist who thinks so much of America that he wanted to break away from it and Palin spoke at their rally and said keep up the great work.
3. Wants to tax you if you get a health plan from your employer and if you do not take 2,500 per person for another health plan;
4. Claims to be a wal-mart mom and spends 150k in a month on clothes from Neimans and Saks.
5. Cannot own up that she was for the Bridge to Nowhere took the money for it; had lobbyists for earmarks for Wasilla; left Wasilla with a HUGE debt when it originally had a surplus.
6. Did you forget about Mr. Keating???
7. McCain-Voted to do away with the controls that led to this economic mess and the very bill that did away with it was sponsored by Graham........
8. McCain Voted against equal pay for women and the Ledbetter Act;
9. McCain-Voted at least 8 times NOT to raise min. wage.
10. McCain proposes buying up bad mtgs--hey McCain, I paid mine almost in full--how about picking up the tab for what I have left.
BTW--that bailout--it gave your money to someone else--Wall Street and McCain was all for it.
And, please tell us all-how exactly did Obama allegedly conspire with a terrorist. - Reply to this comment
- Does nobody else find it hilarious that she rails against having empathy for the teenage mother, when she''s introducing someone whose daughter will very soon BE A TEENAGE MOTHER? The double standards of the idealogues on the far right wing are incredibly transparent to everyone except their frothing-at-the-mouth lock stepping followers.

- Could someone please debunk that whole line that is attributed to Obama? I can''t believe that a Constitutional scholar uttered the words: "I%u2019m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution."

- From the sounds of it, it looks like Kit Bond thinks there is only one Gay. This is disturbing since he knows Foley and Craig. From that he should have used the plural "the ***". Having such intense focus on a particular lifestyle seems unusual. Perhaps Kit is displaying much more about his inner desires than he expected. Perhaps we should check Sen Craig and see if he has any insight.

- Awesome add and powerful message. How anyone can still be undecided is beyond me at this point in the game! If you like the past 8 years, than McCain''s your man! If you don''t then Obama, it''s just that simple and really it not that deep the differences between the two (2) men...

- The rightwing neocon nutjob Republicans continue to rant, rave and lie to their faithful but ever shrinking base.
To the rest of us, the Republicans are now toxic crooks and liars.
Their pitiful speeches are music to the neocon evangelical nutjobs, but to the majority of Americans their rantings are just annoying background noise. After November 4 this noise will fade away just like the remainder of the neocon nutjob Republican party. Good riddance. - Reply to this comment
- What on earth is wrong with these Republicans?! I have never seen a more corrupt, nasty, sleazy, angry, bigoted group of people! I now believe the entire Republican Party should just be abolished!

- As I read this I was reminded of the poem...
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I wasn%u2019t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I wasn%u2019t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn%u2019t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

- Gosh, empathy for ***, the disabled, a single mom! How awful! How un-American! And how elitist of Obama! You mean Obama''s not in favor of laws that just hang them or stone them ike they did in the middle ages? Or in Iran? Why, thank you, Sen. Kit Bond for saving us from Obama with his talk about equality and liberty and compassion. Stuff like that would just be the end of life as you know it.
Now, what did Sarah Palin say? Did she cheer you on too? She is SUCH an American patriot too. Betcha she did. - Reply to this comment
- nothing but hatred and fear coming from palin, mccain and now this guy. Time to ditch these bums and bring back the Admired, ethical, compassionate, honest Country we were before these neocon bums took over. get rid of the BUMS!!!

- I thought the comments were a satire. But I guess that there is a lot of hate coming from the good Christians who tell us the founding founders built this country on Christian principles. Now, just who was it that wanted us to treat the least among as we would treat each other? Who delivered the sermon on the mount?
And where does the constitution say, "Thou shall not be kind and compassionate."
The argument being made by Bond seems more aligned with the Nurenberg accused who responded with, "I was just following orders."
Solomon tempted the law with mercy and was reknown for his wisdom. Jesus counselled us to love each other. Even the Statue of Liberty invites the tired, the poor, and huddled masses. OOOOOPS! I forgot, the good Christians don''t want any of those foreigners here either. - Reply to this comment
- mibwilso--you left out the "eductaed". At first, it was the "east coast elite" with all their fancy degrees. Then the tide turned and conservative republicans started stating how unqualified Palin is. They called them "intellectual elites".
So no if you are educated, you are out also. - Reply to this comment
- let''s think about this. Are laws not intended to be comapassionate and fair? I do''t recall the Constitution speaking to any treatment different for *** than for straights, or as now amended, any differently to race or gender. The idea that judges should make up what isn''t in the Constitution--overt, legally enforceable discrimination--is a clear violation of the conservative view of the law and the bench. Kit Bond knows better, and should be ashamed of himself.

- tj217,
When did you decide that you are straight? Let me guess, you didn''t.. you are just attracted to the opposite *** right? So do you think you could possibly suppress those feelings and instead have them for the same ***? I''m pretty sure you couldn''t.
I never chose to be gay. Right when other guys my age started to be interested in girls, I got interested in guys and it is nothing I could control. - Reply to this comment
