There is a big big difference in someone attending an event for Khalidi and someone providing funding for Khalidi.

It is fact - and this is supported by filed tax documents as well -that McCain as chairman of the IRI funded Khalidi''s works.

Abman827,

You are full of ***. The media is not protecting Senator Obama. If full disclousre were in play more would be presented in the media about Senator McCain''''s failures in judgement, inluding philandery, Keating Five scandal, Tailhook scandal, poor performance in the Naval Academy, poor performance as a Naval fighterpilot prior ro being shot down in Viet Nam, etc.

How can you say I am full of ***...Obama himself knows its true hence why he bashes foxnews. And I beleive the media should be disclosing all information on all people runnning for president. So not sure why you are bringing up McCain when I was talking about Obama. It was just a comment and my opinion. Believe what you want but the media is backing Obama and hiding the truth from you. That is why you are so willing to criticize me on a post.

Another pathetic tactic by a campaign that knows no limits on negativity.

Thank you Barak for keeping yourself above the fray. You have proven yourself to be a model for Presidential politics. Kudos to you!

Y"ou love to spread misinformation. Are you one of the "dirty tricks team" ala President Richard Nixon?''

Not Sure about the poster of that statement, but vividly remeber those days. Nixon and his gang were wrong then and Obama and his hit crews are wrong today.

There are many people who can tell what is wrong with both sides of the aisle. How many Democrats are defending the MA state senator Dianne Wilkerson today?

Are all former alleged terrorists/radicals shunned by Presidents?

No. Former IRA bomber Gerry Adams is welcomed at the White House as a peacemaker.

You''re right...but the problem is that we are not getting the truth. All this information needs to be disclosed to the American People so we can decide. It shouldn''t be filtered by the media.

This is an outrage that the media is protecting Obama and not doing their job and giving the American People the truths and the big picture on Obama. They need to give us the real truth and let us decide. I just fear what Obama is going to do to this Country. And with the media backing Obama and hiding the truth is only saying there is more to Obama then meets the eye. And that is scary and something us Americans need to be aware of.

"I can see into the future too. I see an America that is led by Barack Obama. Where we view the Constitution as the foundation or our society, not "Just a piece of paper" as George Bush calls it.
I see an end to the nightmare of stupid, arrogant, dishonest, reckless and incompetent republicans in office.
It has been 8 long years, seems like 80. What a relief it will be to get these criminals out of office."

Are you including the "second bill of rights" that Obama wants to add to the Constitution ?

"Another diversion from discussion the the issues? Quote for McCain campaign. "I will run a honest campaign" Lie. "If we discuss the economy, we will lose." Truth. As a veteran, any espect I had for John McCain is long gone. He is just another dirty politician."

An Obama is 100% truthful right? Lets just say that the only reason he is putting his own personal "Social-mercial" on TV tonight is beacuse HE LIED about public financing!

Finally, some mention of this here on the cbs "news" site. How more in the tank can the so-called main stream media get?

McCain is absoultely right! If this were any kind of indication that a Republican was attending a dinner and praising a questionable individual, you betcha it would be the lead story on this site. Also, cbs would have a dozen reporters and cameras hounding that Republican.

Wake up cbs! Your news ratings have fallen faster & further than the DOW. Your treatment of this story is the reason why!

Yes, in the interest of disclosure, how about a disclosure of how many times Senator McCain participated in Tailhook Conventions? How many times did he participate in the sexual harrassment activities commonly practiced at Tailhook Conventions? Why did Senator McCain take all those trips to the Bahamas on the private jet of Charles Keating prior to the conviction of Keating for crimes commited in the Savings and Loan meltdown?

While John McCain is demanding things, I would like to demand the facts behind John leaving his disabled wife for pancake batter makeup Cindy. Tell us why you would walk out on your wife....

How can you know your enemy if you don''t hear what he has to say.
Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin sat down together on the Isle of Malta. That didn''t make the first two communist nor the last one Democratic.

HA! McCain should sue the H*ELL out of his campaign if they continue to try this guilt-by-association stuff. Trying to burn Obama on Khalidi will burn McCain as well. He must have Alzheimers.

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.

A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi''s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (There is a pdf available on the web - Google it and see grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14.)

The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January.

Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi''s group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."
