Please folks, lets get a grip here. Nazi? fascist? Slur? IT IS THE MAN''S LEGAL MIDDLE NAME! Whar world do you people come from? i have never paid much attention, but I would be willing to bet that when the new president is sworn in, that persons full name is used. I am a registered Democrat and I was not offended by hearing a man''s middle name. If I was unfortunate enough to live in Lee County, I would most likely vote for Scott in the upcoming election. Aren''t there far more important issues to get riled up about? Economy, illegal immigration, taxes, etc., but get this upset because Mike Scott said a man''s middle name.

Dear Commissioner Janes,

I am a District 1 property owner. I won''t give my name or address for fear of reprisal on the part of your County"s Sheriff''s Office.

I am writing to ask: Is there any or statute in Lee County law which forbids a uniformed, elected county official from participating in the campaign of a political candidate while wearing the uniform of his/her office?

I''m referring, of course, to your Sheriff, Mr. Mike Scott.
To hear the Sheriff of Lee County in a public forum commit such a blatant and low-minded slur, while implying that Lee County was condoning his actions, sent chills down my spine. The words Nazi and Fascist leaped uninvited into my mind.

I''d be shocked that a sound-minded, publicly-elected official in Mr. Scott''s position of responsibility would have the arrogance to behave in this manner, unless he believed that the majority of his constituents felt similarly, and that the County government would not object. I hadn''t realized the extent to which the pre-Civil Rights, Southern Racist Culture was alive and well in Lee County. It''s one thing to hold beliefs of this sort, but for the Lee County Sheriff to use the uniform of the office that represents the rule of law in Lee County to incite and inflame a crowd of co-believers toward an obviously racially- or cultural-bigotry-inspired vote against a person of color makes your County seem very unappealing to investors.

I am from Lee County Florida, and I voted against this guy, even meet him a few times, kind of creepy guy (he hit on my sister?).
I do believe he is looking for fame, climbing that latter.
To the people who are considering retiring / moving to Lee County Florida, do your self a favor, don%u2019t move south past Venice Fl.. Lee County has one of the highest taxes on gas prices. There is more crime than I care to mention. I am moving to Ga. I wish John McDougal was sheriff again. But I must admit better than Sheriff Frank Wanaka...
The Question is: Did he use my tax dollars for this? I bet he did? Jacksonville is about 320 Miles NE of Lee county... Not around the block..

Oh puh-leeeeez.....
Sheriff Scott simply stated the candidate''s full name. It was not a slur or show of bigotry nor was it said in an inflammatory manner. If Mr. Obama and his supporters are so embarassed by his middle name that they do not want anyone to even speak it then perhaps he should have considered a legal name change during his 143 days of experience leading up to his running for President.
