Will Media Report Concert Before Obama''s Berlin Speech?
News busters.org
July 24, 2008 - 13:38 ET

Remember back in May when media gushed and fawned over a huge crowd in Portland, Oregon -- supposedly gathered to hear the words of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama -- but chose not to report the free concert given before his speech?

Well, it has been learned that before the presumptive Democrat nominee spoke to a crowd in Berlin Thursday, two popular German acts -- reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn -- entertained the gathering audience.

Will media report this tonight, or just gush and fawn over the huge crowd again?

While you ponder, here''s what was reported by Spiegel Online moments ago (h/t Hot Air and Gateway):

+ Pop Concert for Obama Fans
6:33 p.m.: The tens of thousands of Obama fans are being entertained as they await the senator. The reggae musician Patrice kicked things off, followed by the rock band Reamonn.

I''m sure this will be part of ALL media reports concerning this speech...not!

The Pentagon OK''d the visit to wounded in Germany two weeks ago. Then the day before the trip, they say it''s a campaign event. It was a set up. Da*ned if he does and da*ned if he doesn''t. The day before the trip Bush tells all U.S. embassies not to assist him. Since when doesn''t an embassy assist any American, let alone a U.S. Senator? The day before he gets to Berlin Bush tells all foreign service workers that they can''t attend his speech even though it was outside of working hours. None of these things happened before McCain went to the same places. It was a little too cute that Columbia, who wants Bush to get their trade agreement passed, just happened to send their military to rescue the French woman who was a hostage and it just happened that McCain was there to greet her. Bush has always used the U.S. government for political advantage and he''s doing it again. If Obama had gone, McCain, and McCain knew all about this in advance, then the story line would have been that Obama was "using wounded Americans for political advantage." While Obama was actually in the air on the way to a war zone, McCain broke Secret Service and State Department security directives and announced that Obama was going to a war zone. Why hasn''t anyone wondered how McCain knew that? And why didn''t he take flack from the networks for endangering a presidential candidate''s life? The whole thing was a set up.

Most Americans have no clue where John McCain stands on the issues.

That''s because McCain of 2008, is running AGAINST the platform of McCain of 2000.

How can ANYONE keep track of his position on the issues, when he flip flops so much?

There is some truth to that, if the McCain of 2000 could spin the clock forward and see the McCain of 2008, the McCain of 2000 would think the McCain of 2008 had lost his mind! One thing is for sure, this is not the traditional John McCain of yore, this is the "status quo" new and improved version of John McCain. This also may be a dirty trick being played on Republicans by John McCain! Maybe McCain really hasn''t changed at all, maybe McCain is just doing what he needs to do to get elected and once President will transform back into the old John McCain! That may be whats going on here! John McCain is a true Republican like Chuck Hagel is a true Republican, I don''t think so!

I have no doubt that the Pentagon did not want wounded troops to be associated with the Obama trip because that would draw attention to the fact that there ARE troops who have been horribly wounded. The Pentagon would prefer that the American people didn''t focus on that part of their supposed success in Iraq. The Pentagon would just like to pretend that these brave men and women didn''t exist (just like the news media has) and keep them a secret so they can discharge them without providing fully for their medical and mental injuries. The treatment of our wounded and returning vets by the Bush Administration has been a disgrace.

Of course McSame claimed it was never "inappropriate" to visit our troops. . .Republicans have always viewed the military as an extension of their political party and have repeatedly used (against regulations, of course) uniformed troops as a backdrop and prop to their own campaign speeches.

Was is appropriate for Mc Bush to go down the streets of Baghdad and say it was safe and use our military troops and helicopters to protect the liar. You Mc Bush people are so obvious. It is ok for you but not anyone else What about it

Senator Obama goes quietly and without press to visit the wounded troops in America and visited the wounded troups in the Green Zone when he was in Iraq, and he will continue to do so. Does McCain visit the wounded troups? That I don''t know. There is pitiful whining going on with McCain, and a pathetic attempt by republicans to make every wonderful thing Obama does look as ugly as they are.

Obama has never insulted us. So what if he didnt visit in years, ***? why would you go over there if you dont have to.

I dont like anyways when VIPs visit creates a big headache, for those who served know what Im talking about.

We need to go into Pakistan, Increase the military first to 2,000,000 so we would have back to back deployments. We need a bigger Army period.

Iran the hell with Iran we can just make them a big dust hole. With out putting my boots on the ground.

The Pentagon is fast becoming another wing of the Republiscum party. Stick to wars, stay out of politics.

Mr. Bush is the commander in chief and he tells the pentagon what he wants and very rarely do they not do what the commander in chief wants so in affect they are also a mouthpiece to the commander in chief. but you are right mr. Bush probably put them up to speak up and they shouldn''t

mccain I respect him, but he has lost touch with his military backround.

We already won Iraq. Saddam is dead, now what. That was our mission in the first place regime change. Its done, we need to come home now.
