- Living in Texas, we have offshore drilling. We noted when living in Calif. how everyone loves their cars, but NO, THEY DON''T WANT OFFSHORE DRILLING. WELL, IDIOTS, JUNK YOUR CARS AND WALK OR RIDE THE BUS. OFFSHORE DRILLING CAN BE SAFE AND CLEAN. YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST SELFISH.

- A vote for a Republican is a vote for POLLUTION!
Republicans are Corruption, War, and Pollution.
Oil was below $50.00 per barrel before Bush''s invasion of Iraq. - Reply to this comment
- Let''s see - "A vote for a Republican is a vote for higher gasoline prices"??
OK - when the Dems took control of congress in 2006 the price of a gallon of gas was around $2.00, now less then 2 years later it has more than doubled. Now, tell me again - who gives us higher gas prices????
The answer is economics 101, when there is high demand, increase supply and prices will come down. Why is it that the Dems don''t seem to get this basic economic FACT? Did they miss school that day? - Reply to this comment
- Thus, ANWAR will be the salvation to all our energy and environmental problems?
Another misleading promotion (like so many others) by the Right Wing using their occupation of Iraq, and drumming of further war against Iran that has built the false Oil Future Crises, to ensure profits for private oil companies.
Great, more of the same%u2026. - Reply to this comment
- Well, to say that a vote for a Republican is a vote for higher gasoline prices just flies in the face of facts. The simple truth is that the Democrats, who are in bed with the environmental lobby, are preventing offshore drilling and oil exploration in ANWAR. They have also prevented any new refinery capacity over the last 25 years. Anyone with half of a brain know that the market dictates price. With no additional supply and much higher demand caused by China and India, we have what we have.
It''s basic market driven economics.
Announce that you are drilling ANWAR, and just watch those oil prices go down.
Liberals don''t understand economics. It''s all pie in the sky to them. - Reply to this comment
- Want a "complete comprehensive energy program"? Here it is. It''s called, "Get the Gov''t Out of the Way!". Very simple; The gov''t focuses on putting cheats, thieves, frauds, rapists and killers in jail and entrepeneurs skilled in the oil business are left to the business of producing oil. The free market will take care of the rest.
Worried about your beach? Establish it as your rightful property then go about the business of prosecuting those that spoil it. Worried about the caribu? Establish that land as yours and go about the business of prosecuting those who spoil your property which in turn may hurt the caribu roaming on it.
In terms of individual rights and the corallary of property rights, all parties can be satisfied.
Remember the plan, "Get the Gov''t Out of the Way!" - Reply to this comment
- While I am all for off shore drilling, this is only the beginning of the sort of energy policy necessary to rid us of dependence on foreign oil. McCain says he recognizes that though I haven''t heard anything else. I hope to hear a comprehensive policy that puts into place free market solutions to get us away from strictly relying on oil as a means of energy.
By the way, here is my idea for dropping the price of oil to $20/barrel and keeping it there...

- The agenda of the Democrats and Environmentalists is to prevent drilling for oil domestically, at the same time as they oppose all nuclear and coal development. The result is hundreds of billions of dollars leaving the US for foreign oil and a climate of fear that is directly resulting in higher prices for Crude Oil. Without these unjustified and irrational bans, the USA would be an Oil exporting country again, Crude would be below $20 a barrel, and those hundreds of Billions going to regimes like the Saudi%u2019s, Iran and Venezuela would be fueling the US economy.
It is outrageous and deceptive for the Democrats to whine about the high cost of oil and energy when it is they who have caused this entirely avoidable crisis.
The ultimate goal of the radical environmentalists is to have us all back living in caves and painting the walls. Saying domestic drilling is a %u201Cshort term fix%u201D is disinformation, that %u201Cshort term%u201D would give us 30-50 years of cheap oil minimum, and greatly expand and improve the economy. - Reply to this comment
- The Republicans are OIL, and only want OIL. It%u2019s been the Conservative Agenda to force America to be dependent on OIL. Alternative Energy Programs have been stifled and set back in by Conservatives favor of OIL.
A vote for McCain is a vote for OIL. - Reply to this comment
- Finally some sense out of McCain, he just needs to keep going. Make the campaign promise "Energy Independence by 2012" and promise to open up ANWAR, drill in the Gulf of Mexico, fasttrack oil shale development, invest in sugar cane ethanol in Florida, expand refining capacity, institute a Federal mandate for one low emisson blend of fuel so existing refineries can run full blast and promise huge tax credits for alternative energy vehicles. If he came out tommorrow and stumped with this promise he would win in a landslide.
