California: Obama Opens Big Lead Over McCain, Clinton''s Unfavorability Rises
According to a survey conducted over the past 10 days by the Public Policy Institute of California, 59 % of likely voters here now have a "Favorable" Impression of Democrat Obama, while a Majority View both of the other candidates Unfavorably.
In a state whose Democratic primary Clinton won in February, 51 % of voters now say they have an unfavorable opinion of her; 53 % of voters feel the same way about Republican McCain.
Obama, meanwhile, seems to be making strides across nearly every constituency.
If the general election were held today, 54% of Californians say they would vote for Him, compared with 37% for McCain.
That gap has widened by 8 points since March. Obama enjoys the support of more than 80 % of Democrats here, along with over half (55 %) of Independents.
He leads McCain among men and women and is viewed favorably by nearly 70 % of Latinos--
A powerful political group, experts note, not just in California but in several other western states, including Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada. - Reply to this comment

- Madam Clinton was the front running candidate with a very comfortable lead over any other candidate from either party. It has been statements such as this one (again) she has made that has diminished her lead and imploded her opportunity for this election cycle to be President.

- The worst thing about this type of comment is that it plants the assassination seed in some sickos mind! It can almost be considered code or a subliminal instruction. Hillary should stick to her scripts, she doesn''t do well speaking off the cuff!

- ...also SusanYC, there is a distinct difference between voting for a president and running for president. Don''t try to compare them as if one group of people deserves something more than another group for an unrelated issue.
Also, even when black men could vote early on it wasn''t made easy. They''re were so many "qualifications" that excluded them, very few actually got to vote. - Reply to this comment

- You can obviously tell Clinton supporters. No matter what comes out of H. Diane''s mouth, whenever a news site reports it the news site has to be wrong.

- You can obviously tell Obama supporters...no matter what Hillary does or says it is wrong. She has every right to stay in the race. If it were Obama most of these people who are quick to diss Hillary would be feeling the same way us Hillary supporters feel. I wonder though how much sexism has to do with all this rhetoric from the media and the Obama supporters. Hillary is the first woman to viably run for President. May I remind all of you, black men got the vote 50 years before women. It is two historic moments in history, the first black American and the first female American to viably run for office. Give us a break......Go Hillary.
