When you cant win on politics you turn to religion. That is the best Huckabee can do. When you can''t run on a conservative record you call yourself a POW.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has won the Maine caucus.

In a statement issued by Romney Saturday night, the Republican presidential candidate was thankful for Maine''s support.

"Tonight, they have made their voice known and have endorsed our conservative vision for a stronger America. Like many Americans, the people of Maine are tired of Washington promises made but broken," the statement said.

The win in Maine adds to the other states Romney has won in the 2008 election cycle thus far: Wyoming, Michigan, and Nevada.

Romney''s main competitor in the upcoming Super Tuesday elections is Senator John McCain of Arizona.

Despite gaining the endorsements of both of Maine''s senators, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, McCain placed a distant second in the state''s caucus.

We all know whom the media wants you to vote for by the coverage. Wasn''t it surprising how meaningless was the discussion between McCain and Romney and that only Huckabee and Paul came up with the good points and meaningful commentary? McCain is too much a soldier (a one trick pony, without the experience running a state government), Romney has his vascilating head in the clouds and will say anything that is popular to get the vote. He is out of touch with anyone outside a country club. Unplug yourself for a moment (we all have to do this) and review all the candidates websites before making any decisions. Be free of the Media "Matrix" and be a free thinker! Huckabee and Paul are being systematically ignored. Don''t go with the flow. I vote for Huckabee for his 10 years successful performance as a fiscal conservative in Arkansas (turning around the economy and ending with a large surplus) and his willingness to commit to a timetable for energy independence, a timetable for completing a security fence with Mexico, and while he won''t just up and leave in Iraq like the Democrats propose (compounding our mistakes in the past), he knows that now that Bush got us into this situation, there has to be an intelligent way to get out that will be the best option for future security and the reputation of the United States (which is in sorry shape). His concern for the environment and the freedom of families to dictate how to educate their children with home schooling.

Just to add. I''m voting for the candidate who will be able to work with Congress in getting something done in Washington and not someone who will **** off have the country and be ineffective.

I realize that no candidates who are running for president, Democratic or Republican, are perfect. They will never be perfect. But, the anserwer to who one should vote for is unfortuanelty based on the old saying "I''m voting for the lesser of the evils"

Just to add to NewIdeas1''s comments below:

Using Article Six (prohibition of a religious test in the third clause) is a disingenuous effort by Romney supporters like Jay Sekulow to guilt people out of considering all aspects of a candidate''s character and what drives his policy decisions. Article Six is about oaths of office, and not about the individual thoughts of a citizen in the privacy of the voting booth. If Article Six were intended to serve as a basis for how we make our voting decisions, each citizen would have to undergo a thogough examination of his or her motives and intents to ensure compliance.

How stupid would that be?

The mention of Judicial Watch got me thinking about that. A boat load of once conservative groups have bailed on their supporters and signed on to the Romney effort.

The posts from both sides are dispicable and full of lies. As a former Mormon, I know church members do not take "blood oaths" or any of that nonsense. Is the church pro-choice? Yes, as SoCons would recon pro-choice. Is the Mormon church trying to lobby LDS legislators in favor of illegal immigrants? According to the Salt Lake Tribune they are.

But if we assume Romney will bow toMormon leadership on important public policy issues, isn''t it reasonable to assume that Huckabee would consider his own faith in making those same decisions?

I''ll grant that the LDS church is much more high control in reference to the conduct of its members, but they didn''t step in and ex-communicate Mitt when he was in Massachusetts promoting the gay agenda or expanding government funded abortion rights.

If we look at both candidates based on what they''ve actually done, and not what opposing campaigns post on WikiPedia for the purpose of smearing their record, you''ll come to the conclusion that Huckabee is a Social Conservative and Romney is not. You''ll probably also see that Huckabee has a desire to help people across the economic spectrum while Romney is focused on corporate business interests.

There is enough TRUE information about Romney to warrant serious concern among conservatives. There is enough TRUE information about Huckabee to be of serious concern to moderates.

Deal with issues -- and facts -- and the Republic is secure.
