Hey Mike in KC. Can you tell me why Mike Huckabee does not talk about MCcain''s liberal policies but instead picks on another true Conservative like Romney? What is his agenda? Just curious because it doesn''t make sense.

Why does everyone hate the fact that Romney uses some of his own money to run for the Presidency? Why do we demonize someone who has worked hard to be successful? I would think it shows that he puts HIS money where his mouth is. He feels so strongly that he would be able to do good things for our country that he would sacrifice some of that money he earned to help out the American people. I think he should be praised for his willingness to give to a good cause and not critisized. Too many in our country now a days are greedy and don''t want to give of their own time and money or as the Democrats and celebrities want the taxpayers to pay for their pet projects. Romney is an honorable man who earnestly wants to bring his expertise to help our country get back on track.
Vote Mitt Romney!

Melinda:

Huckabee has never even eluded to the idea that a Mormon shouldn''t be president- where do you get that?!? I''ve heard countless media types questioning if a Baptist Minister should be president. "Is he going to try to impose his theological ideas on the whole country?!?" I lost count of how many times I heard that one.

And talk about religious discrimination... that''s what the media has been doing to Huckabee from the start. How many Huckabee introductions began: "Former Baptist Minister and Arkansas Governor". I''ve never heard any one introduce Romney as: "Mormon Bishop and Mass. Governor".

"Contrast Ads"? I like that! When you punch and punch at the other guy by distorting the facts and at time out right lie about your opponents accomplishments, it''s called "Contrast Advertising"?!? But when your opponent finally says "Enough is enough" and wipes the blood off of his nose and stands up for himself and gets in a few shots of his own it''s called "Attack Ads"?!? Is that how that works? I''ll have to remember that- thanks!

Black Conservatives Rally to Urge Mike Huckabee to Stay in Presidential Race

PRESS CONFERENCE: Monday, February 4, 2008, 9:45 AM, National Press
Club, 529 14th Street NW, DC

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A broad coalition of
black conservatives from across the country are holding a press conference
to urge former Governor Mike Huckabee to stay in the presidential race for
the Republican nomination until the Convention.

"Governor Huckabee should not be intimidated to stop his bid for the
republican nomination," states Don Scoggins, veteran GOP activist and among
other conservatives hosting the press conference. "The momentum of the
grassroots that propelled this party into victory is behind Mike and will
not stop fighting for him regardless of his bank account," also states
Scoggins, president of Republicans for Black Empowerment, a DC based
national grassroots organization.

Ok, since some have to bring up religion to denounce a candidate (going against the constitution), I''ll comment:

Some criticize Mormon involvement in polygamy. Mormons stoppped this over 100 years ago, but others seem to bring this up all the time. It is interesting that they do not state that Abraham was also involved in the practice and an Angel actually told Hagar to return unto him (Gen 16:7-11).

Some assert that Mormons are racist. We are not perfect people (and others in different faiths also have a checkered past). Nevertheless, the Book of Mormon says that Black and White are alike unto God. Joseph Smith also denounced slavery (which was far different than many others during his time). Joseph Smith also gave his horse to a man so he could buy his family out of slavery.

Please stick to the issues of the presidency and not some religious test for office.

Mitt Romney REALLY wants to be president! He has the receipts to prove it. Mitt Romney has lots of money and owns Bain Capital which bought out Clear Channel, the home of Hannity, Rush, Ingraham and Beck. Why? The job of the media is to sell us on Mitt and get us to accept his flip-flopping as misunderstanding. The role of Rush, Hannity, Beck etc is to urge us along while we''re running scared from Hillary and Barak into the arms of Mitt%u2014our Republican savior and champion of conservative values.

Mitt is as much a conservative as Hillary Clinton. He is a champion of gay rights and recently, for political gain, has decided to put aside supporting the killing of babies until his nomination is secure. Then he will take off his mask but by them the Republican party (accept for the moral conservatives) will be stuck with him and too ashamed not to vote for him.

Vote for Huckabee!

I have nothing against Huckabee, but I don''t think he is a serious candidate anymore.

Think about this: Romney has changed stance on many issues, but he has become more conservative over time. He won the voters summit in the summer, and everytime the issue of abortion came up in MA he sided for life. McCain has also changed his stance on these issues. He has become more liberal in many ways. The fact that he has been endorsed by NT Times, Rudy and Arnold (Two choice proponents) should tell you something.

Guys, this poll from Fox news today gives the lie:
(From http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/020108_election_release_web.pdf)

7. If John McCain and Mitt Romney were the only choices in the Republican
primary, how would you vote?
30-31 Jan 08
Republicans: McCain 62%/ Romney 29/ (Don%u2019t know) 6/ (Would not vote) 3

Not only is Huckabee NOT taking votes from Romney, but clearly a vote for Romney is actually a vote for McCain!!! (since Huck''s votes would mainly go to McCain if Huck dropped out)

Wow, the truth is finally starting to come out. Religious discrimination! The Huckabee supporters are finally showing their true colors of not liking the Mormon faith and that is why they are slandering Romney and why Huckabee won''t drop out of the race. How sad. You are acting like McCain and distorting and twisting Romney''s record when you know it is not true. Huckabee made a big deal about the contrast ads (not attack ads) that Romney ran earlier in the primary yet here he goes name calling and using low brow tactics because he doesn''t believe a Mormon should be president. Everyone knew something was up when Huckabee wouldn''t attack McCain even though he is the front runner and here we thought it was because he wanted the VP job. I am just so disappointed in my fellow conservatives. You are more interested in dissing another Christian religion than making sure someone with values runs our Country.
Mitt Romney for President!!

I am happy to see Mike Huckabee stand up for himself. He has been belittled by Romney this whole campaign. Enough, is enough. Money cannot buy everyone and it won''t buy me. My support is behind Governor Huckabee 100%. His comments on Romney were not distortions, they were facts. Although, Romney says he is pro-life during this particular campaign, I heard him say in a televised interview a few years ago that he would always support the woman''s right to choose and would never waver from that position. How are we to know that he won''t change his mind again?

Presidents are to be real people. Gov. Romney is like an actor in a fictional drama and actors follow scripts that are written for them. I am exhausted with the seemingly presidential appearance of Gov. Mitt Romney%u2014attractive, engaging... almost believable but you had better NOT really believe him.

Mitt Romney has been groomed for this presidential race. But he doesn''t have what it takes to be President. His heart is lacking. America needs more than he can give. Romney loves winning. Romney doesn''t love America.

Mike Huckabee on the other hand is the genuine article. Gov. Huckabee is still who he was before he started running for president%u2014a brilliant, humble man of great character (integrity). Can anyone, honestly and in good conscience, say that about Mitt Romney? Brilliant? Humble? Great character? No.

At best, we can say Gov. Mitt Romney is still trying to figure himself out.

I for one wish that Huckabee would have several changes on the things that he believes such as on paroles, raising taxes, destroying hard drives, his acceptance of gifts, the fair tax, raising his children so they treat animals better.
Note:
Now my comments are crazy because they are taken out of context and so are Mike Huckabees when he talks about Romney. Get real and stop spinning records to appear the way you want them to Govenor Huckabee. Romney''s record is not at all what you are protraying it to be anymore than mine is of you. Stop the attacks!

I recall Iowa, Mitt Romney was so critized by the Huckabee and McCain camps for doing less of attacks on them than Huckabee is engaging in now. He ran on the platform in Iowa that he would not use attack ads. Flip Flop for Huckabee.

The Mormons were expelled from Missouri in the midst of being murdered and driven from their homes under the Governor''s "extermination" order. They were abolitionists of slavery and this inflamed the hatred. Among other things, abolition advocacy and pro-slavery Missouri did not mix.

Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, had ordained blacks to the priesthood and to continue this practice would have only further fanned the flames of bigotry against the Mormons. So beginning with Brigham Young, Church leaders stopped the practice. It''s doubtful that any other church in America was ordaining blacks during the Slavery era. That makes Mormonism''s founder the most progressive civil rights champion of his time.

Churches, like other organizations, are institutions. They don''t change easily. The practice of denying Blacks the priesthood was ensconced in the Church and it was continued until 1978.

Critics might argue this is too late. Sadly, those same critics were not alive at the time that the practice began. If they had been they would have lauded the Church for its progressive stance against slavery and (one would hope) spoken out against the bitter bigotry against the Mormons as well.

Times change and so do attitudes. Unfortunately, institutions often change much more slowly.

Mike Huckabee, it was truly time to come out and let people know the truth. There is more to be said about McCain than you imply, but I suppose you are letting it be for a better time, say farther down the road.
It must be hard for a preacher to accuse another man of doing wrong, I am a Christian and I know I am no more perfect than the person next to me, but it is truly difficult to just smile and hope people vote for you. He need to come out and open up his heart.
You are going to see a LOT more of this in the next few days.
God bless you Mike!
May the best man be chosen.
