One more thing. Shrub and/or D.I.C.K. would be no where around if Sean Penn showed up in Iraq. The reason is obvious, Penn is intelligent enough to understand the insanity of this war and won''t be placated by the "dog and pony" show. I''m afraid that anyone against this illegal occupation won''t get much press.

P.S. "BOOM" is only a lovely fantasy. I think we are stuck with this war-monger for the duration. The dems can''t do anything and now we even have the news media helping to justify this horrific situation. We are but peons in the whole scheme of things. I hope God is taking notes.

Drummer94- What a coindicence! Kinda clarifies the meaning of "fair and balanced reporting" doesn''t it...and I was under the impression that CBS was AGAINST the war. My bad.

Hey Katie, when you come back to the U.S., why not take a month or two and visit the V.A. Hospitals across the U.S.? Then, and only then, will you be able to truly report whether this war has been a success. Until then, you are nothing more than a tool for the chickenhawks.

Come on, Couric. We all know you were given the VIP guided tour and saw just what the military wanted you to see and hear. Your report is useless. You should be ashamed to call yourself a reporter.

We ARE winning this war, and will win it outright! This is terrible news for the liberal left who desparately need a US surrender in order to advance politically in 08. They have campainged on us pulling out before the job is finished, now it is obvious they will need to rethink their strategy.
I know......................HOW ABOUT A FLIP FLOP!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

"This is psychological warfare, Baghdad style."

Couric''s reports are in fact psychological warfare American style, designed to win domestic support for the "surge" and for the war in general.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

"Even US soldiers assigned to protect General Petraeus''s showcase remain sceptical. "Personally, I think it''s a false representation," Staff Sergeant Campbell said, referring to the portrayal of the Dora market as an emblem of the surge''s success. "But what can I say? I''m just doing my job and don''t ask questions."

I don''t doubt that you are right that we will have to wait for a new president and I certainly wish you and your husband safety until then.
However, it will be necessary, after we pull our troops out of Iraq that we put many of them back into Afghanistan because it is imperative that we quell al Qaeda there, in other words, finish what we started and cut and run on. FeelFree1 is right, al Qaeda in Iraq is political propaganda designed to garner support for the "surge". And, it seems we are working inordinately hard to convince everyone that Iran is another boogey man, while we continue to remain silent as to Saudi Arabia''s role.

Why should anyone care about the opinion of a war criminal like General Odierno, as he is interviewed by Corporate tool, Katie Couric?

Again, while reports about the ficticious "al-Qaeda-in-Iraq" group were nearly nonexistent just a couple of days ago, we note a substantial increase in unsupported claims about this nonexistent group, as the various war criminals, cowards, and liars seek to justify the continuance of the brutal, disgraceful, and illegal invasion of Iraq.

in my opinion.. yea i do think that we are spinning our wheels.. i dont necessarily support the war in any way.. except to give my husband the support he needs to do whatever he is told and to get home safely..
and i must ask Krenz4... have u been in the military?? have u been trained to be a soldier..
we didnt make our whole military outfit in 9 weeks... it takes years and i think that the fact there are still people in after 20 years and still find ways to help all the new recruits .. proves.. training troops is a never ending cycle. and until the iraqi''s have a decent military outfit.. our boys probably wont come home unless the next president has the balls to pull them out.

those that do sign up to be on iraqi security forces sometimes go bad, get kidnapped, or possibly killed just for working with our soldiers. Therefore a whole new group of iraqis have to be trained daily and for a while. there is also a language barrier" Posted by gbutcher2 at 07:52 PM : Sep 05, 2007

Wouldn''t you agree then, that whatever we do, however many young Americans we kill, however many Iraqis are killed, however much money we spend that we are merely just spinning our wheels by doing what we have been doing the last 4 years? It seems that after 4 years of doing the same thing that we should be able to try a new plan, something that is not so failure-prone.

It doesnt take that long to train ANY troops! The reason that it is taking so long is that they (the Iraqis) are stalling and infiltrating our ranks. We are outfitting them with our equipment that they will, when the signal is given, turn on us. The longer they stall, the more of our sons and fathers they can kill. and the more inside information they can gain. I love America but we are the stupidest, most gullible and naive country on earth. and we are doubly so to believe that ANYONE in Iraq is he;ping us.

i too still find it hard to believe that it has taken this long to train the iraqi''s. however.. we have to look at it froma different point of view.. my husband is a SSG with the Cav scouts that are currently deployed there. he tells me that the sheer number of people in iraq alone is one of the reasons that they have not had enough training. those that do sign up to be on iraqi security forces sometimes go bad, get kidnapped, or possibly killed just for working with our soldiers. Therefore a whole new group of iraqis have to be trained daily and for a while. there is also a language barrier. Though our basic training here in the states generally run 9 weeks, we also have to take into consideration we have to over come the language barrier and they still have to be trained in a skill just like our guys. They do basic training.. for physical strengthening mostly, then move on to learning thier special skill for thier actual job which could take any where from 3 months to a year..
though i dont like the fact that this war has gon on long enough and that our soldiers die everyday for a war that may not end until we leave.. i also understand why it takes so long..
