Washington Post: Key Republican Says He Won't Support Filibuster, Virtually Assuring Her Confirmation
- You two are the most extreme leftists and neo-progressive liberals on these boards.....what do you think....you just continue to pretend and state over and over that Republicans are some how connected with the klan or southern confederates from the civil war ??? utter nonsense !!!
The Democrats has a former Grand Wizard of the KKK as a leading Senator of your party.....now WHO'S connected with the Klan ?? Democrats - Reply to this comment

- Everyone knows who the bigots and the Klan is, and know it has to do with the new so-called "social conservatives". Neocons, skinheads, racists, klansmen, it's all one big nasty package led by Rush Limbaugh.
Yes. We knows this. So do you. But feel free to prevaricate - it won't make any difference. ;)
- Sorry CS4466, Democrat leader Robert Byrd was formerly a Grand Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan.....Democrats are more closely related to the KKK
- Joe what President signed the civil rights act? I know it was not a Republican in fact the Democrats of the south used to be known as the Dixiecrats until Johnson changed and they skiped over to the Republicans. Johnson even said we will lose the south for a generation. That was in the mid 1960's, and guess what the generation is up that is why the Republicans are losing even in the south. The former Dixiecrats are dying.
Look at Mississippi one high school finaly had a segrated Prom this year. The kids wanted it but still too many Dixiecrats now Republicans were around but it is crashing down around the good old boys and their biggeted beliefs.
- antoniof123, It was Abraham Lincoln, the Republicans and the North Union that were against slavery....not democrats
- Don't bother antonio, "history according to Joe_ny_15" is a book all on it's own and doesn't have anything to do with history. Should be filed under "Fantasy".
- Joe, I'll swear you are without a doubt the most Uneducated person on these boards. EVERY school kid about 4th grade knows the story of how the Southern Conservatives were kicked out of the Democratic Party, how Strom Thrumond formed a Third Party that fell flat on it's face. Nixon then rode to the salvation of the Klan and all it stood for. Come on! PLEASE do yourself a favor, take a few night courses... HONEST it will help... AT LEAST you'll have enough knowledge to NOT make a statement like the above again! UNBELIEVABLE!! In THIS nation in 2009.. absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!!
- You are right Robert Byrd WAS a member of the KKK, He admits it freely, but however, he has long since renounced his membership. Come up with something new please.Ithoughtitwasfunny you take the cake. I have tried very hard not to resort to this childish name calling but you are a complete embicile. AS I said yesterday many of those commies that voted for Obama served in the military fighting for your right to be completely obtuse. If you cannot think of something intelligent to say please shut up you are an embarressment to all but mostly yourself.
- By the way Could you tell me who forced LBJ to sign those bills. You should perhaps research this before proving your total ignorance of the facts. History is an easy topic to research, try doing that. LBJ was not a man to be pushed around. He stated his beliefs which is contrary to what you say. You are a uninformed mouthpiece of the far right. Being what is considered to be a Moderate I find your babble quite troubling in that your ignorance could reflect badly on all americans. Get back on your meds.
- Yeah...yeah...yeah...blah...blah...blah......so you must feel better now blaming the old, man byrd for doing something 60 years ago, he has obviously regretted ever since, but it was the 'thing' to do in WV during the 1940's.
Can the foxnewsus propagandus homosapien subspecies stick with anything a bit more current than decades ago, and point out exactly who joins the current group of racist bigoted hypocrites than those from the marginalized, southern, white, evangelical republiCON party of hatred?

- So, not even the Republicans want Justice?

- The Republicans are forced to confirm her. Watch the spin on this though. They'll attempt to make themselves look good by confirming Sotomayer.

- Sorry, but there really isn't any way the Republicans can make themselves "look good". They are too transparent.
- They covered their phony buttz by, at some point or another, creating sound bites to pander to all sides.
- gulliberal, I have to assume you mean the Man who does the Countdown Show every night on MSNBC! I LOVE watching that show because unlike the Fringe Right and the Druggie he just uses the Neocons OWN words and let's that tell the story. But I guess you have to be able to have independent thought to enjoy something like that huh? Oh well, never mind!
- Wise Latina: 1
Neocons: 0

- Is it Republicans "won't" or is it teeney tiny minority of racist bigots in the GOP like Senator Sessions "can't" muster even 10 votes to sustain a fillibuster?
- Hey what happened all you ditto heads.. The Party of "Family Values" isn't going to try and block this? Oh! That's right they CAN'T block ANYTHING. It seems the PEOPLE kicked their butts out so bad in the last election they don't have the votes to block ANYTHING. Hey maybe you folks should consider changing your position on some things... it might attract a few more people your way!
- The American Conservative Union asked FedEx for a check for $2 million to $3 million in return for the group?s support in a bitter legislative dispute, then the group?s chairman flipped and sided with UPS after FedEx refused to pay.
For the $2 million plus, ACU offered a range of services that included: ?Producing op-eds and articles written by ACU?s Chairman David Keene and/or other members of the ACU?s board of directors. (Note that Mr. Keene writes a weekly column that appears in The Hill.)?
The conservative group?s remarkable demand ? black-and-white proof of the longtime Washington practice known as ?pay for play? ? was contained in a private letter to FedEx , which was provided to POLITICO.
