Darwin thinks one''''s ability to change is the best trait. At the rawest level, man can survive without a lot of stuff.

Yes, and I would say economies also apply the basics of survival of the fittest. Sink or swim...life isn''t fair and no government will ever make it so.

I don''''t want to be in that position. Greed corrupts one''''s soul. I''''m happy with simplicity. Your Money Or Your Life is my favorite book.

Well, you seem to being using your life to be concerned about other people''s money. I am sure you''ll get a tax credit when Obama passes the newest bailout - to those that buy GM car from Circuit City as long as they use the car to go to a Detroit Lions game

That''''s the problem!

Tax burden IS NOT a problem.

I''''d happily pay millions in taxes like the Lehman''''s CEO if I was given $484M over 8 years!!!

Also, the golden parachute!

Also, the frickin corporate jet that is tax deductable!!!

NO, Misha, only ''''I'''' am responsible for any deal I enter into. NOBODY else is!

Posted by Rowdydfw at 10:49 PM : Nov 21, 2008

That''s fine for you if you get conned by a professional based on your argument there will be no government or laws or regulations to protect you -- there will be no reason to go to court because the greater specialized intelligence of the professionals you dealt with have already stacked the deck against you in a civil proceeding and deregulation says there will be little or no criminal statutes to assist you either. -- The guy that writes the contract stands a far greater chance of winning than you do. Because there will be no government requirements for the contract. Gee then building codes and all those other regulations to protect people should be removed from the legal statutes you already claimed you are capable of being responsible for every aspect of every deal you sign. Your world is the world where everyone except the rich lose.

under the best of circumstances you do not know all and any professional outside your area of expertise has the ability -- hopefully not the lack of morals or ethics -- but the ability none the less to take advantage of you. The same applies to me -- regardless how careful we are there are details beyond our understanding that we would not even consider questioning in areas where we have to make deals in our lives. Until you understand this you have little chance of understanding most of the world''''s problems. No one is an expert in everything.

So what are you saying - human nature is flawed but redeemable through government policies? Sounds awesome

How strange? I never heard a word about Jesus describing himself as POOR! In fact he considered the riches he had to be ABOVE ANYTHING MONEY CAN BUY!

Oh please, if you saw Jesus without a job walking around with long hair and claming to be the son of God, you''d have laughed at him.

And, if he were rich, he never would have been executed.

Kinda like today.

Why are you guys such extremists?

The best societies are those that combine capitalistic features with socialistic features. You don''t want to have the extreme of either. The extreme of capitalism leads to anarchy. The extreme of socialism leads to tyranny.

You''ve gotta try to work closer to the middle. You are way too extreme.

You can ask the Chinese, they are working very hard to build up a middle class, so they don''''t need us anymore.

As I said many times...

In 1980, a CEO made 42 times a worker.
In 2004, a CEO made 431 times a worker.

Same time the CEO has had a tax decrease and the average worker is paying proportionately more in taxes.

It is not opportunity. It is usually signally a decline in a society. You might prefer the rich getting more and the poor getting less, because if you are in the middle that doesn''''t give you fear. But, in the end the middle also gets squeezed. When the gap between the richest and the poorest gets so great, it is usually because there isn''''t a middle anymore.

Did you ask Reagan how much trickle-down was enough?

Posted by whatithink10 at 10:36 PM : Nov 21, 2008

No, I just want to know what free money I can expect from Obama. Please inform me
