The bailouts were sought by Bush. It was he that went on TV "explaining" (more like scaring) to the American people how necessary this bailout was. I think that Bush is not socialist but what were his options? He did scare the beejeepers out of everyone. And, frankly, I''m still fearful. Congress (NancyPelosi and her ilk) were bound to come up with the same plan as shown by the lastest "let''s bail out the entire auto industry". disaster!
As far as the Europeans'' comments - I would prefer to think they were just mindless comments and should not be taken seriously. Agreeing that PEOb will brush it all off. Racism IS expensive, this attitude can cause unacceptable behavior that can lead to severe consequences. However, I am not surprised by the European racist attitudes or statements. This is probably why some European countries are no better off than they were centuries ago. They don''t accept people for who they are nor new ideas.
