Sometimes a simple repair works best: To repair the Bush damage to the Dept. of Justice simply fire everyone with a law degree from Regent University. They were the ideologues who attempted the politicizing of Justice.

Declare the University unfit and fire the lot.

Oh Yeah???? If our fine president was such a disaster, then why would the voters of San Francisco honor him by voting to name a brand new, multimillion dollar waste treatment facility after him?

You need to think about that last question a little longer.

To the 59 million who did not vote for me, I know I have to earn your support. You may not have voted for me, but I have heard your voices, and I''m your president too...which is why I am ignoring all your voices to move swiftly to undo any Bush policy you supported...su.cks to be you. But I need your support to be successful...and not the kind of support Bush needed and didn''t get...the kind that if I don''t get, will cause us to look baaaaaad. First black man who can''t succeed on his own...not good. Dummy down what needs to be dummied down, and get behind me...regardless the things I do that are partisan...which is exactly what I said I wouldn''t do...but get used to broken pledges. I want people around me who aren''t too up or too down..just cool...like me. Which is why I have to regurgitate Clinton''s Administration...(enter Rahn...not cool, but he''ll take all the heat for me). You see, the CHNAGE I was talking about isn''t really change...but I need to go with what is already written because...get ready..you''re gonna laugh at this...I really don''t have an original thought in my mind. But together...with enough smoke and mirrors (enter media support) and loyal support (kool-aid drinkers) and help from established business people (enter Oprah and Wall Street)...I''ll go down in history as the most beloved president of all times. The truth will wait.

We can not, we MUST not, let Bush just go back to his ranch and pretend to be a cowboy. He has some serious crimes to answer for and WE the PEOPLE must insist on holding him responsible for them! This is a great first step though, clean our seat of Government of the Evil that was George Bush, Clean it well and then move the NEW President in. I believe WE the PEOPLE will take it from there...

Great I can''t wait till he cleans up some of the mess Bush has left us with. Over turn some of him lame *** ideas like funding stem cell research, something we should have been doing all along. How else can we find cures.
The second thing he needs to change is the drug program.Get rid of the donut hole where seniors end up having to pay and arm and a leg to get the drugs they need.

%u201CThe House just passed President Bush''''s bill to redefine the treatment of detainees, and the Senate''''s expected to do the same thing tomorrow. Buried deep inside this legislation is a provision that will pardon President Bush and all the members of his administration of any possible crimes connected with the torture and mistreatment of detainees dated all the way back to September 11, 2001.

At least President Nixon had Gerald Ford to do his dirty work. President Bush is trying to pardon himself.

Here''''s the deal.

Under the War Crimes Act, violations of the Geneva Conventions are felonies. In some cases, punishable by death.

When the Supreme Court ruled the Geneva Conventions applied to al Qaeda and Taliban detainees, President Bush and his boys were suddenly in big trouble. They had been working these prisoners over pretty good.

In an effort to avoid possible prosecution, they''''re trying to cram this bill through Congress before the end of the week when Congress adjourns. The reason there''''s such a rush to do this, if the Democrats get control of the House in November, well, this kind of legislation probably wouldn''''t pass.

You want to know the real disgrace of what these people are about to do or are in the process of doing? Senator Bill Frist and Congressman Dennis Hastert and their Republican stooges apparently don''''t see anything wrong with this.

I really do wonder sometimes what we''''re becoming in this country.%u201D

Bush is a drugstore cowboy, all hat and no cattle. He only bought that place in Crawford for his presidential run and I guarantee you he will not be on a ranch 6 months from now. If there is any justice left in this world he will be in a courtroom at The Hague. Republicans know full well the consequences of putting his regime on trial here in this country.

And for those Bush dead-enders that still defend him to this day, you''''ve got to wonder why he is trying so hard to shield himself from potential prosecution if he has done nothing wrong.

Here They Go Again

A Quiet Windfall For U.S. Banks
With Attention on Bailout Debate, Treasury Made Change to Tax Policy

By Amit R. Paley
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, November 10, 2008; A01

The financial world was fixated on Capitol Hill as Congress battled over the Bush administration''s request for a $700 billion bailout of the banking industry. In the midst of this late-September drama, the Treasury Department issued a five-sentence notice that attracted almost no public attention.

But corporate tax lawyers quickly realized the enormous implications of the document: Administration officials had just given American banks a windfall of as much as $140 billion.

The sweeping change to two decades of tax policy escaped the notice of lawmakers for several days, as they remained consumed with the controversial bailout bill. When they found out, some legislators were furious. Some congressional staff members have privately concluded that the notice was illegal. But they have worried that saying so publicly could unravel several recent bank mergers made possible by the change and send the economy into an even deeper tailspin.

"Did the Treasury Department have the authority to do this? I think almost every tax expert would agree that the answer is no," said George K. Yin, the former chief of staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the nonpartisan congressional authority on taxes. "They basically repealed a 22-year-old law that Congress passed as a backdoor way of providing aid to banks."

The story of the obscure provision underscores what critics in Congress, academia and the legal profession warn are the dangers of the broad authority being exercised by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. in addressing the financial crisis. Lawmakers are now looking at whether the new notice was introduced to benefit specific banks, as well as whether it inappropriately accelerated bank takeovers.

The change to Section 382 of the tax code -- a provision that limited a kind of tax shelter arising in corporate mergers -- came after a two-decade effort by conservative economists and Republican administration officials to eliminate or overhaul the law, which is so little-known that even influential tax experts sometimes draw a blank at its mention. Until the financial meltdown, its opponents thought it would be nearly impossible to revamp the section because this would look like a corporate giveaway, according to lobbyists.

Andrew C. DeSouza, a Treasury spokesman, said the administration had the legal authority to issue the notice as part of its power to interpret the tax code and provide legal guidance to companies. He described the Sept. 30 notice, which allows some banks to keep more money by lowering their taxes, as a way to help financial institutions during a time of economic crisis. "This is part of our overall effort to provide relief," he said.

The Treasury itself did not estimate how much the tax change would cost, DeSouza said.

Uh Huh?? ROFLMAO Sparky ANY American who wouldn''t GLADLY trade the 8 years under Clinton for what we got under Sir Lies-A-Lot is completely stupid. Obama''s MOST important promise was to change the course of this nation, to take us away from the Bush Economic Plan. He may have to delay the tax cuts because of the Mess he''s been left, we''ll have to wait and see, but taking us away from the Bush Plan? You can take that one to the bank!!

The news media is the core of all our problems. Good news does not sell, but if it bleeds it leads. Make the news media report only the facts and not the fiction, and the world would be much better off.

Posted by hunterdon6 at 06:57 AM : Nov 10, 2008

AND exactly WHO is going to determine what is fact? WHO is going to determine what WE the PEOPLE should or shouldn''t know. There was a LOT of LIES put out there in the press when we first invaded Iraq, a LOT of propaganda was presented as truth, but the PRESS did correct that when they found out that THEY were being lied to along with us. The Founders made our press free from any controls for a reason. We can see what "Fair and Balanced" looks like with FOX and it''s truly embarrassing when you leave this nation to hear how people laugh at that organization! The Press is SUPPOSED to be looking into a Leader with questions about what they are doing and why. It was true with the Press and Clinton and it''s true with the Press and W, with the exception of the Embarrassment!!

When the truth about how illegal, vile and personal the corruption of the Bush puppets is exposed, after January 20th, the people of this country will be ready to petition our new leaders for a "W" trial on charges of treason. What will the world be like for the Cowardly Cowboy when he loses his "above the law" position and power? I can''t wait!
