Why would anyone aspire to wealth and riches when the govt wants to penalize success?

Posted by jgg0001 at 06:40 PM : Oct 26, 2008

In a way, that''s the problem. Most people only ever "aspire" to wealth and riches but never reach it.

If people were rational, they''d vote their interests and that would mean they''d recognize that they will never be multi-millionaires and vote accordingly. That would mean voting for Senator Obama, since he will want to tax a little more on ability to pay. That means RICH people would pay a little bit more in taxes while the vast majority of the population would pay less.

If people would recognize that they''ll never be rich, and voted accordingly, the Republicans would be put out of business overnight. It''s the genius of the right-wing that they have people believing the bull_sh*t notion that everyone really can be rich. They just have to work EVEN HARDER.

doctor--cool,

Your logic seems straight out of George Orwell''s 1984. Raising taxes on oil companies will not lower the pump price. They will pass the tax on to consumers and raise the pump price. The US has the lowest pump price of gasoline in the non-subsidized world. It has fallen below $3 in many places. This is less than half the pump price in Europe where oil taxes are a cash cow for all sorts of government schemes. After four years of Obama and huge Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress the pump price will be more than double what it is now and approaching the European price of the day.

By the way, McCain wants to give everyone a $5000 tax credit. You should be complaining about that, too.

No - they won''t complain about that. The $5000 credit is supposed to pay for the $12,000+ health insurance they''ll lose, or the $12,000 (mine is actually $20,000) extra income of health benefits McCain will add to your taxable income. They won''t complain about that because the $5000 goes right to the health insurance companies, their bff''s.

=======

The gov''t doesn''t penalize success. It just taxes according to ability to pay. Obama''s tax plan is nothing new, except perhaps in minor ways.

By the way, McCain wants to give everyone a $5000 tax credit. You should be complaining about that, too.

doctor--cool said: "I''m voting Democrat because I believe we need to rid ourselves of dependency on foreign oil, BUT I AM AGAINST offshore drilling for oil and natural gas"

Carter decreased imports of foreign oil by 50%, the last time anyone did anything in this regard. Republicans ''talk the talk''. If we could only get them to ''walk it''...

I''''m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies'''' profits are wrong. I believe higher taxes on oil companies will produce lower prices at the pump.
