The Vets themselves gave OBAMA a 80 out of 100 and they gave McCain a 20 out of 100 I don''t know but I think 80 is 4 times better then 20

Of the 155 votes tracked by IAVA since 9/11, John McCain received a grade of "D." While no senator earned a grade of "A," Barack Obama got a "B ."

A separate veterans group, Disabled American Veterans - with over 1.4 million members - maintains a "Federal Vote Scorecard." DAV is also a nonpartisan organization and says the purpose of its scorecard is "simply to report the facts - how [legislators] voted on issues important to us and our members."

McCain''s score in the last Congress? 20%. Obama''s? 80%. (In the previous two Congresses, McCain''s record goes a little bit higher - to 25% and 33%, respectively; Obama''s is 92% for 2006;

oh One more October 2003: McCain voted to table an amendment by Senator Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq and to reduce the amount provided for reconstruction in Iraq by $322,000,000.

April 2003: McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests.

August 2001: McCain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans by $650,000,000. To his credit, he also voted against the 2001 Bush tax cuts, which he now supports making permanent, despite the dire financial condition this country is in, and despite the fact that he indicated in 2001 that these tax cuts unfairly benefited the very wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

So there it is. John McCain is yet another republican former military veteran who likes to talk a big game when it comes to having the support of the military. Yet, time and time again, he has gone out of his way to vote against the needs of those who are serving in our military. If he can%u2019t even see his way to actually doing what the troops want, or what the veterans need, and he doesn%u2019t have the support of veterans, then how can he be a credible commander in chief?

or this May 2006: McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities.

April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans.

March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.

March 2004: McCain once again voted for abusive tax loopholes over veterans when he voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans'' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive tax loopholes. Jeez, McCain really loves those tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over our veterans'' needs.

CBSCensorU here it is I posted earlier if john mccains so for VETS explain thisSeptember 2007: McCain voted against the Webb amendment calling for adequate troop rest between deployments. At the time, nearly 65% of people polled in a CNN poll indicted that "things are going either moderately badly or very badly in Iraq.

July 2007: McCain voted against a plan to drawdown troop levels in Iraq. At the time, an ABC poll found that 63% thought the invasion was not worth it, and a CBS News poll found that 72% of respondents wanted troops out within 2 years.

March 2007: McCain was too busy to vote on a bill that would require the start of a drawdown in troop levels within 120 days with a goal of withdrawing nearly all combat troops within one year. Around this time, an NBC News poll found that 55% of respondents indicated that the US goal of achieving victory in Iraq is not possible. This number has not moved significantly since then.

February 2007: For such a strong supporter of the escalation, McCain didn%u2019t even bother to show up and vote against a resolution condemning it. However, at the time a CNN poll found that only 16% of respondents wanted to send more troops to Iraq (that number has since declined to around 10%), while 60% said that some or all should be withdrawn. This number has since gone up to around 70%.

Barack Hussein Obama will snuggle up with the bad people of the world. He will have lunch with Ahmadinejad, Chavez, whatever Castro is in charge and America will greatly suffer. We do not need this man. This man has Willam Ayers for a friend( a convicted felon who blew up US buildings), a hate filled preacher who likes Louis the Muslim Farrakan. We do not need our nation turned over to this very dangerous man with extremist views bordering on communism.

Look YOU are about as far in the tank as it can get and I seriously doubt you can SEE the truth, let alone know what it is but here goes. THOSE who attacked us?? THEY are in a SAFE HAVEN created by McSame/Bush. THEY have completely REBUILT and are now STRONGER than when they attacked us. HOW did they get that way? Well WE invaded a nation that posed NO threat to us nor had any means of harming us. THAT''S right you poor simple minded loser... the REPUBLICANS haven''t just allowed them to get off the hook but HAVE allowed them to rebuild WHILE they have been BANKRUPTING us! Good grief... get an EDUCATION and stop trying to PRETEND you know what is going on!!

Not too fast...not all vets are for McCain. After retiring with 24 yrs in the Air Force and seeing how the Iraq war has taken a terrible toll on our troops morale, well being, not to mention their families, I believe Mr Obama is the right candidate to bring closure to this mess. If you leave it up to McCain, the US will remain in this country indefinitely because he can''t define victory in Iraq. Bush said "Mission Accomplished" in 2004 aboard the aircraft carrier and we are still there. We need change and Obama is the answer.

"All of us have been fighting, shot and wounded, and we know how dangerous the world is," said George Manos, 75, a Korean War veteran who wore his VFW post''s dress uniform to the breakfast at Bob Evans. Obama, he said, "does not seem to realize how dangerous the world is."

Unfortunately for these much older vets, the younger vets don''t feel the same way ...... Besides, the fact that the world is a dangerous place don''t mean we have to be involved in 5wars at a time to keep it safe - also, how much longer truly do some of these vets hope to be alive for ?? Alot of us, Middle Class, would have to endure the mistakes of bush for at leats the next 25years. Cheers!

McCain never claimed himself a hero, but American remembered him as a hero. Now McCain went to Washington to help pushing the bailout. He did not claim credit for that. But American will give him the credit. McCain showed true leadership.

Why do Republicans always assume that if you are a Veteran, you naturally ae going to vote for McCain. I think not. I''m a Veteran and a Democrat and I''m proud of it.

You so called VETS on this blog are all frauds ... You libs are really losers.

There is some merit to what Wright has said. We exported Stinger missiles to Afghanistan and trained troops to fight against the USSR in a war by Proxy. We have installed more two bit torturing dictators then the rest of the world combined.

Yet we cry about Iran doing the same thing in Iraq? What makes it right for us and wrong for them? Reap what you sow?

Don''t misunderstand - I''m not in favor of our troops being killed, but our Government, under the guise of Freedom and Democracy, has lost the morale high ground and we are starting to see the rest of world go against us.

When we say one thing to an ally, then turn around and invade their country and occupy it, other folks take notice. The world is not as dumb as politicians would like us to believe.

Yes, we will die for our country and we are not frauds. But there is no honor in dieing for oil and Mobile-Exxon, no matter how its by Darth Cheney!

Iraq did not attack or threaten us, nor we their involved in 9/11. The military is supposed to be used to protect and defend the USA. I remember my oath - are you a vet and can you say the same?

Facts are facts... The Dems have only been running the Congress for 1 year, not 2, and its going to take a very long time to fix all the damage done by the GOP in the previous 7-8 years.

Both parties oppose eachother to get what they want. if all the powers that be want something done then the one with the least approval votes against it and the one with the most approval votes for which makes the sheeple vote for it. win-win scenario for the elitists. We need to quit fighting with eachother and fight who needs fighting then we''ll get something done for the people in general, not the corp or military machine.

Typical......plenty of money for War.......no money for Veterans, Americans or Peace.

Excellent post!!!
If McCain''s admirals and generals try the same "swiftboating" tactics that they did on Kerry, those decent Republicans should somehow let them know that they believe as most Americans believe that that tactic was as UNAmerican and UNpatriotic as anything that has ever been inserted in a presidential campaign. The Bush campaign will always be remembered in history as being the most vile of campaigns, both to McCain and Kerry. Swiftboating has become the symbol for what is wrong with campaigns. And it is Bush''s legacy to the country.
