Washington Post: McCain Advisers Prepare Alaska Governor For The Spotlight
- Anyone for another dose of right-wing hypocrisy?
Case #1:
When Jamie Lynn Spears%u2019 pregnancy was revealed, for example, Bill O%u2019Reilly went after her parents:
%u201CThe sister of Britney says she is shocked. I''ll bet. Now most teens are pinheads in some ways. But here the blame falls primarily on the parents of the girl, who obviously have little control over her or even over Britney Spears. Look at the way she behaves,%u201D O%u2019Reilly declared."
Case #2:
When a caller to Rush Limbaugh%u2019s radio show asked about Spears%u2019 parents, Rush Limbaugh rushed to blame the parents.
CALLER: Would you tend to think that a family in this position, though, wouldn''''t you think that there would be a more watchful eye as a parent to be watching over these kids so this doesn''''t happen to them?
RUSH: I would certainly hope so, but it''''s long past time for this to happen. The parents here are the culprits!
So, of course, Rush and Bill will come down equally hard on Sarah Palin, proud parent of a pregnant, unmarried teenage daughter, right?
Hypocrisy at its finest!! - Reply to this comment

I received this from a friend today... (Cont''d) Not all of you may think aerial predator hunting is so bad, but how anyone (other than Alaska wolf-haters, of which there are many, most without teeth), could think this use of funds is appropriate, is beyond me. If you want to know more about the aerial
hunting travesty, let me know and I will send some links to informative web sites. She has been a strong supporter of increased use of fossil fuels, yet the McCain campaign has the nerve to say she has "green" policies. The only thing green about Sarah Palin is her lack of experience. She has consistently supported drilling in ANWR, use of coal-burning power plants (as I write this, a new coal plant is being built in her hometown of Wasilla), strip mining, and almost anything else that will unnecessarily exploit the diminishing resources of Alaska and destroy its environment. I received this from a friend today. Please pass this on to others. This needs to be circulated to the far corners of the U S.
As an Alaskan, I am writing to give all of you some information on Sarah Palin, Senator McCain''s choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I know more than most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that he picked her. Her husband works in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and races snow mobiles. She is a life time member of the NRA and has worked tirelessly to allow indiscriminate hunting of wildlife in Alaska, particularly wolves and bears. She has spent millions of Alaska state dollars on aerial hunting of these predators -from helicopters and airplanes, dollars that should have been spent, for example, on Alaska''s failing school system. We have the lowest rate of high school graduation in the country.(Cont''d) - Reply to this comment

I know. What is wrong with them. If they want to know how to think, they should tune into Rush or Bill O''Reilly and get the non-partisan truth. Geeze. - Reply to this comment

- If Palin is as good as McCain says she is, why hasn''t she held a press conference to quash all the talk about her lack of preparation?

- What was John McCain thinking. If this is an example of his "judgement" based on years of "experience" then we are in deep doo-doo if this guy is elected. This shows NO judgement, none. Just a ploy to snag a few disenfranchised Hillary supporters and a few rabid right-wingers at the expense of our country. No judgement.

Lieberman lies about Barack Obama
Romney smears Michelle Obama
Fred Thompson smears Barack Obama
McCain threatens to sue the National Enquirer over what has clearly become a National Enquirer sort of presidential ticket.

Awwwwwww. Poor little Palin. Poor poor sweety.
Just what I want in a vice-president someone who is as fragile as glass. That''''s just what we need in the middle of two wars and president about to kick.
I hope shes is feeling ok.

Am I missing something here -- McCain bailed on the interview when asked a tough question -- Hope he would not not do that during a negotiation with an enemy. -- Even more so I hope he never get the chance. - Reply to this comment

- When "liberals" do it then it''''s whining, when compassionate conservatives do it then it''''s a wake up call.

WASHINGTON %u2013 President Bush today signed the Lugar-Obama proliferation and threat reduction initiative into law.
Authored by U.S. Sens. *** Lugar (R-IN) and Barack Obama (D-IL), the Lugar-Obama initiative expands U.S. cooperation to destroy conventional weapons. It also expands the State Department''s ability to detect and interdict weapons and materials of mass destruction.
"The United States should do more to eliminate conventional weapons stockpiles and assist other nations in detecting and interdicting weapons of mass destruction. We believe that these functions are underfunded, fragmented and in need of high-level support," said Lugar, Republican leader of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. - Reply to this comment
- According to the some diehard Republicans, McCain pick Sarah to energize the Conservative Base of the party. However, they say that base is much smaller now than 4 and 8 years ago. This is very poor judgement. Also, McCain is attempting to use the same trick that Bush used. In other words, McSame again.

Global Poverty Act (S.2433)
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Barack Obama (D-IL), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA) today hailed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee''s passage of the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), which requires the President to develop and implement a comprehensive policy to cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief, and coordination with the international community, businesses and NGOs. This legislation was introduced in December. Smith and Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-AL) sponsored the House version of the bill (H.R. 1302), which passed the House last September. - Reply to this comment
