Below are some actual quotes by Governor Palin during a series of interviews by the Anchorage Daily News in 2006 when she was running for Governor:

On oil exploration and drilling in the ANWR:
God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats. Now, as to the ANWR, Todd and I often enjoying caribou hunting and one year we shot up a herd big time, I mean I personally slaughtered around 40 of them with my new, at the time, custom Austrian hunting rifle. And guess what? That caribou herd is still around and even bigger than ever. Caribou herds actually need culling, be it by rifles or wolves, or Exxon-Mobil oil rigs, they do just great!

On Alaskans serving overseas in Iraq:
Well, God bless them, and I mean God and Jesus because without Jesus we''d be Muslims too or Jewish, which would be a little better because of the superior Israeli Air Force.

At some point, one has to expect that we will finally come to know all there is to know about Sarah Palin. But until that day comes, here''s another tidbit, courtesy John Aravosis. See, back when Palin was announced as McCain''s Veep, inquiring minds wanted to know: had she ever traveled abroad? Her spokeswoman told Politico''s Ben Smith that she had been to Germany, Kuwait, and Ireland.

At least one Irish blogger, Suzy Byrne, stepped forward to call blarney on that:

Two words to describe that visit to Ireland I think.

SHANNON STOPOVER! *

...

*For US readers the Shannon Stopover refers to planes landing at Shannon Airport to refuel when on their way to and from parts of Europe/Middle East. Shannon Airport sees many US Military and contractor flights arrive there each month for refueling -- passengers get off the plane for a while and then get back on again. Hardly a visit to Ireland?

Well, give it up to the international blogosphere, folks, because as it turns out, Byrne was absolutely correct. Ben Smith, today:

The Ireland trip was a refueling stop on her trip to military installations in Germany and Kuwait, spokeswoman Maria Comella said.
Do you need anything from duty-free, America?

In fiscal year 2002, Wasilla took in $6.1 million in earmarks -- about $1,000 in federal money for every resident. By contrast, Boise, Idaho -- which has more than 190,000 residents -- received $6.9 million in earmarks in fiscal 2008.

All told, Wasilla benefited from $26.9 million in earmarks in Palin''s final four years in office.

Wow! She''s a total DISASTER for the GOP and about everything that McCain (supposedly) stands for. Really, apart from grabbing a homeless guy off the street I don''t think the McCain campaign could have done much worse.

FROM CNN - "The 39th Republican National Convention will get down to the serious business of politics tonight in the midst of what may be the most inhospitable climate for the GOP since the Great Depression. What exactly does John McCain need to accomplish...?"

Well, on tonights agenda is a man I (McCain) voted with 95% of the time and has lead this great nation to the largest deficit in its history. Then,we have Thompson, you know the actor dude. He''s not really a smart guy, he just plays one on TV. And last and definately least we have Joe Loosermann who could not even when his party''s primary. While good Republicans are running from their own party and finding any reason on earth not to attend the convention Mr. Iraq war from the left wants to talk "leadership".

Enough said, republicansforobama.org

But there''''s a potential political landmine here: McCain would tax workers on the value of insurance they receive from their employers.

Yep, millions of middle class Americans would suddenly find themselves taxed on thousands of dollars of extra income. McCain is exactly like GW Bush, every way possible to shift the tax burden from his rich base to the middle class.

Counterbalancing McCain%u2019s reputation as a political dinosaur, Palin smoked pot when it was legal in Alaska, admitting, %u201CI can%u2019t claim a Bill Clinton and say I never inhaled%u201D.

This is the best one yet, "FOX News said Palen has international experience because Alaska is close to Rusia and then one day later in an interview Cindy McCain said, guess what, Palen had international experience because Alaska is close to Russia. I nearly fell out of my chair. She went on to say that Palen was a member of the PTA. Well, so was my mom. Maybe I should call her. Hey mom, do you want to be Vice President?
