- Much better post Doug. Your post has aspects that ring true, but I still believe what our men and women are doing is honorable. I believed something should have been done about Saddam before GW became President, so no matter how it went down I don''t feel the same anger. As I have posted, I watched years of CBS/60 minutes coverage of how bad Saddam was to his people and all the world. I didn''t believe the people of Iraq could do it and felt after 9/11 that a dictator like Saddam could probably do more than terrorists from Afghanistan, so I embrace ousting him. Everyone has different takes, hometown families that have lost loved ones there still support the mission where I live. I will set aside Democrat talking points for their thoughts anyday.

- I worry that Biden is just too much old school and a member of the good old boys club and the status quo and, I hope that I am wrong, but may not be so receptive of change.

- Now we can only hope that Hillary will NOT be given a cabinet post.
There is nothing in Hillary''''s past that qualifies her for an important posting. Eight years as First Lady does not impart the qualifications neccessary for a cabinet post.
Wouldn''''t it be nice if the Clintons would just fade away.

- His choice shows he has superior judgement and cares more about this country then winning the election.
Very rare for a politician, when most will "say and do anything".
His choice is a perfect example of country over political party wishes.
-------------------------
I feel Obama made the best choice he could have. A man with experience in Foreign Affairs, which everyone knows has been a hitting point from McCain. I don''t think there''s a politician out there, Republican or Democrat that doesn''t have somethings in their past that can be thrown in their face. I myself hope Americans see that Biden was the best choice considering the circumstances, and Hillary would have been a terrible choice. I also hope that women voters that stood behind Hillary, still stand behind the Democrats, as it''s what she stood for. All this talk about Obama not being a capable Commander In Chief...The President does not have all the say so...so it''s more of a point for McCain to point that out, than to emphasize he was a POW...Biden has experience and it''s a good choice. Sorry to all of you that still support McCain. I don''t see how anyone in this country, including even my gray haired old man can support the ongoing Republican big business/oil businesses when it''s the majority of American...the middle class that''s suffering from their decisions. We all know Republicans are about world power and lining their pockets with big oil money. Another 4 years of that? No way... - Reply to this comment
- Maybe BILL CLINTON could help you to decide. Look at what he said: "Give me a break. BARRACK OBAMA is a ridiculous fairy tale.". Thank you Bill for endorsing McCain.

- I would urge fellow HRC supporters to give GOLDEN BOY a break, as I will. I can''''t vote for OBAMA, but I won''''t vote against him.

- ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY THAN YOU WERE EIGHT YEARS AGO?
NO way and how can America afford ANOTHER 4 years of the same old BS? I will agree that the choice is not as good as we all would like...I will vote for Obama, and never McCain...but I would have liked a better choice than Obama, though not Hillary.

I agree with you. I would prefer two other candidates, but we''''re not going to get them. And those HRC supporters who now are going to vote for McInsane out of spite---go ahead! But, when your lives disinegrate don''''t complain about it like all the neocons who complain because the public won''''t wholeheartedly support the fuhrer!

- That is why this election is so painful for many Democrats and other supporters of Obama. Here finally we have a man addressing the real problem, a man willing to stand up against all the Republican tough guy talk with its "patriotic" camouflage and speak the truth, which is that this is a seriously mistaken defense posture. We cannot spill Arab blood forever. We need to not diminish our dependence eon fossil fuels, we need to replace them. According to Hubbert''s peak oil theory, which has predicted the end to easy oil here in the U.S. and scores of other countries, we are seriously running out of time to avoid utter and complete chaos. The implications of "peak oil" are mind boggling. I am voting for the man who is willing to tell me the truth and address the real problem. I am voting for a better America that does not kill in order to preserve its lifestyle. The Republican Party is owned lock, stock and barrel by big oil. They use it to control our media and people. I am sorry if that sound conspiratorial to you. That''s the problem, the truth about what is happening at a national level approaches what we see in movies like the Matrix. Why do you continue to hear Democrats plead with us to "Wake Up America." Your sons and daughter are being used as cannon fodder for a mistaken defense policy. McCain really is McSame on this issue. It''s McSame''s defense policy, and that of his political party, not the man.

- promaclaura , I know you are genuine. I can tell when someone speaks from true conviction. I know how hard it is to accept Iraq as an oil war, but it is. We had a good pretext. I supported it back then, but it doesn''t change the reality of what is happening. This is so hard for people to understand. As one of the narrators on the DVD "A Crude Awakening" said, not 1 in 100 Americans know how bad the oil problem is. We are running out of what the industry calls "easy oil." China is turning a death ear to the genocide in Dafur because they want access to Sudan''s easy oil. What we are doing in Iraq has a patina of respectability to it, but it is nonetheless the same thing. Check you headlines promaclaura. Only just today the sector of "peak oil" raised its ugly head in Mexico. All of the wars are oil wars. Russia''s entry into Georgia is no different, only it was a pipeline at stake there. They will not listen to us because they know the truth about why we are in Iraq. We need to prove ourselves better than the Russians and Chinese. We need to do a Los Alamos thing and solve the problem at hand.

- real,
You are trying to attribute actions to Obama that he did not cause or even work on.
For example, strikes in Pakistan had been going on for some time. The government did not want it know as Musharaff was having enough trouble as it was.
Time tables incent the enemy. All the grown ups know that. Maliki is only posturing right now because of the Iraqi elections in October. Look for very different language when the agreement is signed after the Iraqi elections.
He was politically calculating on the invasion and wrong on the surge.
On the Illinois "tax break" that was for him to get something on his political resume but he really did not do the work.
Obama has no resume. He would not even make it in the door for an interview at most large companies. - Reply to this comment
- promaclaura, HOW CLEVER. You Republicans are just so clever. You wanna know why the diff? Your Republicans are our terrorists. They have killed more Americans since 9/11 than all the terrorist in the world combine. And just to make sure those of us left at home didn''''t miss out on the fun, they have raped us financially. Yes, indeed, your John McCain is my Osama Bin Laden. You clever little *****.

What I think is clever is the way my post landed right after another of your tirades. I feel sorry for you if you think McCain is comparable to OBL. Talk about paranoid and out of reality. - Reply to this comment
- I''m posting from rural Arkansas where a pig was found shot dead with Obama''s name on it, so I always try to blunt that truth. I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. I was a lifelong Republican until Thanksgiving Day, 2006 when all hell broke loose in Iraq and our newspapers acted like nothing happened, reporting it as "sectarian violence." I think Senator Obama should change the rug in the Oval Office. That''s what I think.

- Hillary supporters need to get real! How can you be a woman who makes less than $50,000 yearly and vote for any republican? They do not support you or your struggles. You are just a vote to them...nothing more.
Your needs and issues are not theirs. Your health, your body is not a priority to them. You are like so many women in abusive relationships. Your man beats you, spits on you and the next day brings you candy and flowers and you are sold. Right back on the bottom. The GOP is that abusive partner...who is not a partner at all. Wake up women! Wake up America! - Reply to this comment
